Eureka Seven

Eureka Seven was an instant favorite the moment it started to stream, from that point on I was hooked. roughly 1200 minutes later I completed the series, and I was speechless. Eureka Seven's story development is like a emotional roller coaster ride. Full of high points and lows. At first the show deceives you, the next thing you know your excited and cheering Renton on, it makes you smile, laugh and for some, even cry. Not to mention that this show has more plot twists then any 10 full length movies you could string together. Eureka Seven is truly a master piece and a copy deserves a spot in the Louvre.

I feel I need to give an explanation for my 4 star hit on characters. All thought most of the characters are masterfully designed, brilliant works of art, I felt that Dominic was a cut and paste from Renton. I can understand being similar to someone but I literally felt like he was just Renton in a military uniform.... Basically who Renton could have been had he finished school. That screams "I ran out of ideas so ill just copy the main character and give him a name". and that is the only kick I give this show... and its a very small one at that. that small nitch is completely inconsequencial to the rest of what Eureka Seven has to offer. Eureka Seven out shines almost every anime in nearly every category. And believe me i've seen allot. I put 22 years into watching this stuff.

One of my main appeals (other then the incredible story, fantastic animation, wicked awesome soundtrack etc etc the list of amazing good compliments I could give this show would max out the character limit for what I can type.) was the fact that you had mecha's riding the skies on giant surf boards... to me that was just epic, being that I'm a surfer myself.

I won't spoil it for you, But I STRONGLY recommened this show to anyone who spends atleast 20 minutes at a time whenever you get on your pc.

Trully in my opinion, one of the greatest creations of the 21st century... of any century.

The title of this review is quite...Bold, one may say.

When it comes to entertainment such as anime, it is generally understood that people may have different "tastes", and it is this "taste" that will define what is good and bad for each individual. That is true, only to a limited extent.


Example: Consider a painting from a master classical artist, such as Leonardo Da Vinci, side by side with an average 4 year old's doodle.
Will people have a "taste" for a 4 year old's doodle? Clearly, it is obvious which one is superior.


Today, the anime industry is littered with amateur "doodles." In the midst of these pathetic doodles lies your occasional Mona Lisas, such as The Psalm of Planets, Eureka Seven.

Nearly every aspect of this series is flawless. Truly, as the name states, the show is a psalm of the planets. Pay close attention to the psalm. The psalm first sings of the heart of a certain young boy. Dreary and melancholic, the psalm is quick to liven by describing a very fateful day: the singer of the psalm meets the certain boy, and the boy meets the man with the world resting upon his shoulders. Their fates intertwine. The story unfolds.

Did my pitiful attempt at a clever synopsis draw you away? Well, don't be drawn away! You have a dazzling array of characters to meet, all of whom are individualistic individuals. Nowhere is there a character with strings attached. All of the characters move freely in their worlds. One of the characters IS the world.

Like music? Look no further. A song about the broken, yet fulfilled, promise. A song about the heart of the young boy. A song about the days of anguish. A song about...Cherry blossoms. What more do you need? And those were just the openings.

By the way, I'm supposed to be writing a review, right? Well, it seems all I did was rant and rave so far. Here's an objective thesis to cap it all off: Eureka Seven is one of the rare gems in serialized animes, simply because it exhibits master story-telling and top-notch theatrics. As I've said before, flawless.

I truly believe all youth, and perhaps some non-youth, should lend an ear to the Psalm of Planets, Eureka Seven.

I have always wanted to re-watch Eureka Seven but I could never find a decent venue to watch on. In the early episodes Renton did tend to tick me off at his innocent and child like view of the world. But as the episodes continued you see how he and Eureka grew. They developed an unchangeable attachment, and their love for each other spilled out to touch those who where in contact with them. Anemone and Dominic seemed like an unlikable pair since, Anemone did at first abuse Dominic. But to what Holland doled out to Renton, I think that Dominic got the better end of the stick. I watched the original in Japanese and read the subbed version. Next time I think I will watch in English. I soo love a great LOVE STORY!!

For a while now, I have had my own Top 25 anime list, and this has been at the #1 for about a year now! It's a great anime with a slow start, but an amazing story. The entire concept leaves me dreaming of a future where things such as LFOs, and ships like the Gekko and the Swan will exist within my lifetime.

Renton Thurston
Age 14
Renton is your typical teenage boy craving to be the center of attention. He has a thing for Lifting, which is like a crossover between surfing and, in my opinion, snowboarding.
My general thought process when it comes to Renton is focused on his feelings toward Eureka. We all remember that most memorable crush, and we all know what it's like to have those feelings and to have no way of expressing them properly at that age. His relationship overall with Eureka is kind of how most of us would depict what would happen with a first and lasting love, and at the end of the series, it depicts where we would all like to see a love like that go.

Age 14-16 (Unknown)
Eureka is that strange girl who once you get to know, you really like. She is the foster mother of Maeter, Mourice, and Linck. She is also the pilot of the legendary LFO: Nirvosh, Type Zero.
How I would best explain my opinion of Eureka would be that girl next door who was weird at first, but after you get to know her, you realize you really care about her. In the series, the way Eureka's life is affected, and the ways you hear about Eureka's past, really move you, and generally give you a feeling of sadness toward her character. The hardships she had to deal with at such a young age are generally not something you want to hear about for someone her age, but it really helps you get to know her, and become attached to her.

I have started watching around 41 Anime series, such as Trigun, Kekkaishi, Naruto Shippuuden, the Gundam franchise, and Outlaw Star, and without a doubt, this is the one that has the longest lasting impression. The animations in some spots needed improvement, and Talho's voice was annoying at best, but the story, added with the music stylings of Japanese bands like Nirgilis, Denkai Groove, and Halcali just made for an epic anime, and I recommend it to all.

Some episodes I found were hard to follow, and some points were a little sketchy. On top of that, names of minor characters were altered and changed, or didn't match up to later points of the series. Nirvosh's gender was one of the things in the English Dubbed version of the series that I found often confusing, as Eureka constantly mentions the Nirvosh as a male, but other characters referred to the Nirvosh as female, and at the end of the series, Nirvosh used a female voiceover.
On top of this, something that stands out for me is how all the characters have normal hair colors, such as white, gray, brown, black, and blond, and yet Eureka has a blue hair color, and Anemone's hair color is pink.

Throughout the series, Gulliver has been one of my favorite characters. Gulliver is Anemone's pet. He is an odd animal indigenous to post-scub Earth. In the series, he is dictated as being more than just overweight, but to have the ability to either control it's weight, or to have a naturally heavy body weight, despite his small stature. Gulliver proves to be an interesting character until the end of the series.

First off, allow me to explain how I even found out about the show, as I wouldn't exactly call it typical. I was attending New York Anime Fest/Comic Con last month as a member of the press. One of the panels I went to was Bandai's industry panel where I asked a question about the Haruhi series. For doing so, I was thrown a t-shirt with nothing more than a cool looking logo with the words "Project Eureka" underneath and the Bandai logo on a sleeve. Curious, I Googled what it was a reference to and found out it was related to Eureka Seven. Luckily, that same day at NYAF I also happened to stop by the Crunchyroll booth and signed up for a trial. Now curious to try and watch the show, I found it here on Crunchyroll. Never did I think I would sit down to watch the first episode of a series and would end up watching ten in a row instead.

Instantly, the storyline had me hooked. It was one I hadn't yet experienced in anime. The music caught my ear as well - in fact, I'm playing the soundtrack on iTunes as I type this out. The music is just as beautiful as the story and animations; it complements them perfectly. The characters of Eureka Seven are also very interesting, Eureka especially. Just when you thought you knew a character, a plot twist would come in a completely turn it around. Speaking of plot twists, Eureka Seven is loaded with them, which I absolutely loved. There are very few predictable scenes in Eureka Seven.

Bottom line, I'm quite happy I was able to put my Crunchyroll trial to good use by watching Eureka Seven pretty much non-stop. I may have finished the anime, but the series still has me hooked. I've bought the first manga collection and both soundtracks and plan on buying the entire series soon as well as I'm now interested in seeing Eureka Seven with the English dub. If you're looking for something to get hooked on, I can't recommend Eureka Seven highly enough. The series has a few flaws, yes, but it's easy to ignore them.

you'll regret it for the rest of your life, maybe not today maybe not tomorrow. but sometime. what little joy there is in the world, this series shows with just that much someone could be happy. open surges of emotions, its drama doesn't quite dominate this anime as much as the romance or action. great start, keeps you going episode after episode, characters give off enough to know them but not enough to turn an episode into a filler. you'll end up with a million questions, but they're all ones that just spark you to love this series that much more.

Its a type of anime u can watch when your bored. !!!!!!!!!BEWARE OF CHARACTERS!!!!! A 13 year old boy trying to save the world.. come on... and add little kids in this anime... If you are easily annoyed you shouldnt watch this. Little kids in this anime is REALLY ANNOYING, I amazed myself in watching the whole thing. The animation was pretty decent tho. Needed a bit more action and only if they made the main characters older it would be okay. But really in general.. THIS IS A SHOUT OUT TO ALL ANIME DIRECTORS!! Dont make a love story with 13 year olds trying to save the world.... at least make them some what mature.... Now the storyline is kind of funky. It tells you some history at the end but im still lost or they should added the past in the beginning.(Might of lost some stuff while sleeping bad or good. Highly unlikely I would sleep thur anything interesting....) Alot of criticism but hard to point out the good stuff when all i hear is 4-6 year olds whining. And if you do start watching you may think the whining stop but no theyre there in till the end.

I started to watch it on tv when it was on! I stayed up late just to see what happened to Eureka, or Renten!
If you don't watch this it's a big mistake! Sorta on the long side for an anime, but its well worth the 50 episodes.
I preferred the English, over the subs, but that's just me. I swore to myself that the minute I figured it was coming on crunchyroll, that I'd re watch it! This is something that could never be forgotten.
