    Great work of animation
Gankutsuou is a great anime and futuristic adaptation of The Count of Monte Cristo. Although it starts slow the end is definitely worth the wait. Yet, you barely start to notice it while being entranced by the vivid and sometime eccentric artwork. All this series needs is a faster beginning and it would be a 5.

    You got to watch it!
The Count of Monte Cristo is an amazing anime. This first thing you get is the opening song which is a little weird but I think written expressly for this anime and it fits, though weird. Next is the outstanding animation. Totally different than every other anime and a little crazy at first but it grows on you. Now the story line is the keeper. I know the story is based off of a book and I ...

    Addictively Brillant
Gankutsuou is the anime version of Dumas' Count of Monte Cristo with some great alterations that brings it to the year 5053 where the moon has been colonized and space ships have taken the place of airplanes. Basically, a man is betrayed by a "friend" who is jealous and thrown in prison. He loses his land, title, and wife to this jealous friend. We released he returns for revenge some 15 years ...

    Beautiful, artistic and brilliant....
I don't even know where to start... Gankoutsuou is probably one of the best animes I have ever seen, and that's putting lightly. Each episode is jam packed with drama, and will leave you wanting more and more. There is also a satisfying amount of action, just enough so you won't get bored (not that you would anyway). It was great that the anime teaches you such valuable life lessons as well: that ...

    Don't Wait Until It's Cold
The Count of Monte Cristo, one of my favorite books next to Fyodor Dostoevsky's The Idiot or Crime and Punishment, is adapted yet again into something for the screen. I've watched the 1932 version directed by Rowland V. Lee, I've watched the 2002 version directed by Kevin Reynolds. This unique adaptation, taking extensive liberties as setting in the far future, and focusing on Albert instead of ...

    Perfection: the series
Gankutsuou is the anime adaptation of the novel "the count of monte cristo" by Alexander Dumas (i think thats how you spell his name)

    plot 5/5
lets start off with the premise, those of you who've read TCOMC know what it's about, sort of. Instead of following the Count, it actually follows Albert. Anyway, it follows Albert De Morcerf, who forms a friendship with the mysterious count of monte ...

    A feast for the senses
This is the best anime I have ever seen. I feel that Cowboy Bebop was the best anime of the last decade, it held the #1 spot on my list of all-time favorites for several years, but Gankutsuou has since toppled it for me by a landslide, even forcing the delights of Hayao Miyazaki's sparkling workshop down to the middle of my list. There is no precedent for Gankutsuou in anime when it comes to the ...

    Patterns, Textures, and More Colors
I only post reviews for shows I have watched completely to the last episode and I will never recommend an anime to every person because frankly, what I like may not be the same for another person. With that said, people who might enjoy this anime are those who like abstract art (which wouldn't be many)

Plot: The plot can be a little confusing and at times I do feel skeptical about how ...
