Thanks to Gintoki and Katsura, the space pirates ship is brought down. Several antiforeigner factions use this opportunity to take down high government officials who profited from their illegal drug collusion with pirates and Amantos. The Shinsengumi is ordered to provide protection for the officials. Kondo unquestioningly carries out his duty, claiming that if it weren’t for the government the Shinsengumi wouldn’t be where it is today. But the members cannot hide their frustration toward the corrupt Amanto and government officials. Amidst all of this, Kondo is shot down by the antiforeigner faction, taking the hit intended for a frog Amanto they were assigned to protect. Just when the Shinsengumi’s frustration is about to explode, they hear Hijikata shouting…
