On the morning astrology program Ms. Ketsuno declares with a smile that “Virgos with goatees who are brushing their teeth right now will die today...” Kondo, who was watching the show while brushing his teeth, can’t help but let out a wry sigh when Matsudaira thunders in, blasting away with his gun – the Shinsengumi’s involvement with the Rengokukan has come to light, and both are summoned to the castle. Baffled by Hijikata and Okita’s impulsive actions, Kondo enters a state of panic after learning he may be assassinated before arriving at the castle. Matsudaira, who now sees everything as possible assassins, summons Sachan as a counter measure to assassins. Hence the dangerous drive to the castle begins...
