Gintama

I recommend this show for anime fans who get bored of the usual shonen action-packed series. This series gives the meaning of ROFL to the next level with hilarious parodies of some of the most hit animes or films that have aired on television. Gintoki is someone who would bring the laughs and the action, He is the main guy after all.but don't forget Kagura, Sadaharu and Shinpachi as they do some crazy stuff that makes the Odd Jobs a pub for good time laughs. Even the Shinsengumi couldn't help but drop by :)
Gintama definitely beats the Big 3 of anime not because of its action scenes but that downright laughter that comes along with it

The rating system on Crunchyroll is flawed. Overall rating is not necessarily a combination of storyline, music, characters, and animation.

Gintama has no real storyline. Gintama has mediocre music. Gintama's animation ranges from quite superb to absolutely cheap (still frames).

However, what makes this show a Masterpiece is the sense of humour. This is by FAR the funniest anime show out there. Having 200+ episodes of it makes it that much better. So often I find a show that I truly enjoy, only to have the experience end after 13, or 26 episodes. With Gintama, the gags in every single episode are great. Most anime's have at least one or two episodes that bring down the standards. With Gintama, even the most, unrelated and cheap-production-value episodes have really funny gags.

So yeah, what makes this show great isnt a masterful music score, or Gundam-level visual production values, but the sheer amount of imagination put into the gags.

This show WILL make you laugh. And at the end of the day, I think the whole purpose of sitting down and watching any anime is to have a good time.

The first episode is a rather weak introduction. Don't let this deter you. Watch through 5 episodes, and if you still aren't hooked, I'll give you your money back!

Gintama is a show that brings out the sarcasm and comedy to new heights every episodes but what Gintama is about is to put you the viewer inside a melancholy of crazy things in this bizarre universe! Something that seemed normal before could very well get out of hand the next second ending that thought. Gintama surprises, and does so in every ways possible each time it tries which keeps the audience caught off guard when they thought they knew what would happen next, that's to say without a continuum the story follows the daily life of our favorite comedy rag tag

The music is amazing this season and always they seek out to improve themselves which is appreciated a lot because they sit back and stay on their well established success! If you want to change your mind and forget anything that happened that day just watch Gintama you'll have more than you can handle and will forget about it quickly, promise :P!

I went a long time as a premium member on this site for a while now and didn't bother to pick up Gintama. In the past I'd read posts on the forums and is largely agreed that Gintama is one of the best anime showing. I didn't understand, but I watched the first 20 or so episodes of the series and all of S2 so far and I liked what I saw. I may not go back and watch the other 180 episodes here, but it is a great series if you can follow it from a later point in the series.

- Making fun of EVERYthing, including not only animes in general, but also themselves as gintama.

- Mollywood's best productions in comedy cant catch up to gintama's quality and abundance of humor.

- The fact that it is episodic, rather than concentrating on neverending story arcs, makes it easier to watch and easier to laugh.

- A LOT of characters, more than half of which could easily get their own anime.

- Great voice acting

- ZURA CA NAY - KATSURA DA !!

Gin Tama (銀魂 Gintama?, lit. "Silver Soul") is a Japanese manga written and illustrated by Hideaki Sorachi and serialized, beginning on December 8, 2003, in Shueisha's Weekly Shōnen Jump. Set in an Edo which has been conquered by aliens named Amanto, the plot follows life from the point of view of samurai Gintoki Sakata, who works as a freelancer alongside his friends Shinpachi Shimura and Kagura in order to pay the monthly rent. Sorachi added the science fiction setting to develop characters to his liking after his editor suggested doing a historical series.
The manga has been licensed by Viz Media in North America. In addition to publishing the individual volumes of the series, Viz serialized its first chapters in their Shonen Jump manga anthology. It debuted in the January 2007 issue, and was serialized at a rate of one chapter a month. An original video animation (OVA) of Gin Tama by Sunrise was featured at Jump Festa 2006 Anime Tour in 2005. This was followed by a full anime series which debuted on April 4, 2006 in TV Tokyo and finished on March 25, 2010. An animated film premiered in Japan in April 2010. The website Crunchyroll is streaming the series on its site, while Sentai Filmworks licensed the series, with distribution from Section23 Films on DVDs. Besides the anime series, there have been various light novels and video games based on Gin Tama.
In Japan, the Gin Tama manga has been popular, commonly ranking within the Top Ten of best seller series. The anime and its DVDs have also been featured, at various time, in Top Ten of their respective media, while TV Tokyo has announced that the Gin Tama anime was responsible for high sales overseas along with the anime adaptation from Naruto. Publications for manga, anime and others have commented on the Gin Tama manga. Positive response have focused on the comedy and characters from the series, while negative responses concern the manga's artwork.

this was my favorite show while it was on... how sad.

They were saying that they were running out of story from the manga but yet their best episodes were the ones that didn't talk about anything.

The worst episodes were the ones where they were taking things too seriously...

but episodes where the main characters are worrying about their receding hair lines, or fighting over their hot pot meal, or lack of toilet paper... those were the best...

Why did you go away Gintama? Why???

Although I wasn't an expert on animations, but I know a great one when I see it... Most people might think that Gintama is lacking a major storyline but I think this is what makes it one of a kind. Sure, people kept on wondering when is the good guy ever going to fight the bad guy and will this anime ever gonna have an ending that makes sense? Honestly....WHO CARES!! There are thousands of other anime that makes sense and the good guy wins and bad guy loses..we don't need another one of those, what we need is something that breaks all tradition and rules. Something that makes fun of everyone (good guys, bad guys, police officers, revolutionist, destroyers and ..etc..). At the end of the day,, all of us are just looking for something thats gonna make us laugh our heads off, right?
