Consistently makes me laugh out loud
Gintama is one of the few series that is random, features pop-culture / alt. anime references, predominantly witty humor, but STILL surprises you by making you bawl your eyes out in those rare, "strong feels" moments (e.g. Yoshiwara in flames arc). Much recommended It'll be doubly enjoyable if you understand enough of the Japanese pop-culture references to follow the humor.

Fantastic. The Character building is top notch.
You truly feel like every character is a part of your family after 100 episodes or so, and just seeing a particular person show up puts a smile on your face. If you can make it up to episode 300, the payoff is immense. It goes from a light-hearted comedy with a few serious arcs, to being 100% serious and dark. No more one-off gag episodes, but an intense shounen anime.

    The definition comedy done right
Gintama is one of if not the funniest comedy series ever made. Even though it is in Japanese I don't think even an average joe who has never see anime before would be able to resist cracking a smirk. With it's many quirks, over the top reactions and truly well thought out jokes silly or long running, a joke never falls flat or becomes bland in anyway and that is something that is truly remarkable. ...

    This show is amazing! Mayo.
Where do I even start? I began watching this anime without knowing nothing about it. After the first introductions I was HOOKED! I think I saw all the shows in a span of 3/4 weeks. It has everything: humor, action, strong characters and occasionally the breaking of the 4th wall.

I can highly recommend this anime to every single one of you! Mayo.

    ICHIBAN SUGOI Anime Ever.
Literally I have watched over 100 different anime series and out of all of them this is my most favorite. In the beginning the art is very bad, but come on this was made a while ago so everything sucked back then. BUT IF YOU KEEP WATCHING DEAR LORD THERE WILL BE NO REGRETS.

You will find yourself laughing, crying, choking on whatever snacks your eating, and absolutely falling in love with every ...

absolutely love this anime! cant wait to watch the new season!

I would totally recommend watching Gintama.

It kind of reminds me of Naruto, which I love.

I appreciate anime that contains comedy, action and a great story plot. Gintama all the way!

    Gintama has everything!
Fantastic comedy? CHECK. Tear-jerking drama? CHECK. Unbelievably epic, well choreographed fight scenes? CHECK. Well developed characters? CHECK CHECK CHECK. Gintama is an oddity in the sense that it is able to mash together so many differing types of storytelling and absolutely nail it all. If you haven't even seen this series, start now!

That all being said, it is a very long series and can ...

The only shonen mega-series worth its air time.
Gintama's greatest accomplishment is that despite being a shonen comedy/action series with an overwrought premise and hundreds of episodes, it stands apart of the best work of its kind in a long time.

Its sense of humor is brilliantly juvenile and smartly self-referential. The main character is a (sometimes shockingly effective) good-for-nothing manchild, but you'll love him more for it. There ...

    The Deadpool of animes
By far one of the funniest and clever anime's there is, well worth watching from the beginning and hopefully to no end. I don't think I have ever laughed at any other anime so hard other than one piece, I recommend anyone and everyone to watch this show, you will not regret it.
