    Parodies have yet to Die
Gintama is arguably one of the greatest subversions and parodies of the shonen anime genre. I have been watching this anime for around 2-3 years, and have yet to grow tired of it. Comedy with drama and serious arcs scattered throughout, this anime is a masterpiece, which every anime fan should at least give a try. You'll never grow bored of watching the over the top antics of the main cast!

A splendid, splendid comedy anime with a LOT of problems.
I'd make it 3.5 stars, but you know. Gotta balance out against the "5 STAR BEST SHOW EVER" guys.

This anime is one of my favorites. It's surreal, 4th-wall breaking, usually hysterical, and has some utterly fantastic characters.
I adore this show. When the jokes hit, they HIT. That, along with a stellar cast of series regulars and a fun, upbeat cockrock score makes the show worth it alone. Just ...

    Japanese Futurama, but better
Sometime its hard to get the pop culture references because I am not from Japan. But others are real relate-able, and this is one of the funniest shows I have ever watched. You will be please if you stick it out. Also there is a live action movie to be released in USA in January 2018 that I am looking forward to. All Around a great show, and one that doesn't give up after one or two seasons.

  • Excellent light watch
I just finished season 1 and I already love this show. It's incredibly addictive once you learn to love the characters. I will say in all honesty that the sometimes super-cryptic references can be off putting at times, but overall don't affect my love for this series. I can't wait to see more!

    I'm not getting the hype
I'm about halfway through the first season and just bored. Objectively it's a good show. The animation is quality, there's a lot of good little details, and there's even some funny moments. But episode after episode I just find myself growing more tired of it. A lot of the humor seems to hinge on being crude or cringey or both at the same time. The moments that are funny tend to be ...

  • Gintama is a great show
Really funny with lots of action, world will build on itself constantly but the characters are not easily forgoten and are all brought back in frequently. Great diverse characters. no generic anime trophs here folks. really original and you can take a break from it for months at a time, then hop back in and start to remember everything in an episode or 2.

You only watch anime when you want to binge.
Literally, the best thing I've found since I've ever started watching anime, I'm actually glad I found it this late, I get to binge and it's STILL GOING? HECK YEAH, aside from the fact of random hilarity, GinTama has a very easy-going and very passionate way of showing itself. It is very subtle with it's jokes and makes it easy to follow (most of the time). It also has some of the best fighting ...

  • Canada Called; They Want Deadpool Back
Too bad they dialed the wrong number...or did they? Gintoki Sakata's every bit as wonky as Deadpool, except that instead of a healing factor and otherwise terminal lung cancer, he has a sweet tooth and two "employees" who take after him more often than they'd admit. Come to think of it, every flippin' body in this show except Shinpachi is a bit wonky, and most of the people are a lot ...

  • If you haven't watched this you're wrong!!!
I mean, how can I even describe this anime? It's complete randomness and gut bustingly funny moments easily make it the best comedy anime ever made. On top of that, when it decides to get serious, it's action scenes can't be beat. If you haven't watched Gintama, then you haven't truly lived a fulfilling anime watching life.

  • Easily one of the best anime I've seen
    It's great.

On the comedic side, it never fails to make me laugh. Even when the show makes references and jokes referring to Japanese culture, even though I don't get them most of the time, the show still manages to make me laugh with its oddball characters, funny gags, and ridiculous situations. Gintama also leaves the fourth wall in shambles, which I find endlessly hilarious.

    On the more ...
