I never thought I would like this show this much!

I feel like I shared these girls' lives and didn't just watch their story in a show. There is a lot of emphasis on the art of acting and the fact that details count and it brought me back to my days on stage and made me hungry again! The romantic side was so good and so painful in ways and I really wanted more. I feel like there needs to be another season... I have ended up checking out the manga ...

Absolutely Enthralling! - Also Found Synopses of the Series Past Ep. 51

For a while I skipped over this series because I thought it wouldn't interest me (crunchyroll you need to work on your descriptions); boy was I ever wrong! I ended up watching this series in the course of a few days onces I got my hands on it. Some have mentioned that Skip Beat! has similar elements, I would assume they were drawn from this masterpiece since it predates it, and yes if you love ...

For a while I skipped over this series because I thought it wouldn't interest me (crunchyroll you need to work on your descriptions); boy was I ever wrong! I ended up watching this series in the course of a few days onces I got my hands on it. Some have mentioned that Skip Beat! has similar elements, I would assume they were drawn from this masterpiece since it predates it, and yes if you love Skip Beat you'll love Garasu no Kamen (Glass Mask). This anime is forged from a manga series that spans over 36 years (some breaks were taken) and 49 volumes! The anime follows essentially Vol. 1-41. This series is a critically acclaimed shojo/josei) masterpiece. The characters are genuine, interesting, and you even end up liking some characters you may think you hate! Filled with drama, suspense, and a multitude of roles (on and off stage) for the main characters to play as; this series is endlessly captivating. You will find yourself crying, sighing in relief, and jumping for joy at the captivating portrayals of the various characters. I never thought I'd end up crying over an animated portrayal of The Miracle Worker! The love story embedded in it is hinted at and very slowly builds to an interesting climax. Though I wish there were more episodes I was not disappointed with the series finale. It has been stated that the manga series would be wrapping up "soon"...that statement was made in 2009; with the most recent volume being published 10/05/2012. One can only hope that this beautiful story is continued as an anime again once the manga series is finally complete. Watch this series...it will forever hold a place in your heart.

Awesome and Intense Drama

I am so fortunate that I discovered this drama by accident. This is the only drama that I exchange my sleep so that I can watch all episodes non-stop. I am just a romantic at heart but I am rooting for Maya and Masumi the entire time.

I hope Season 2 will be developed soon and the drama will be finished. I can hardly wait.

I adored this anime.. Just wish there were more elaborations on Maya and Masumi seens like the manga.. But I loved everything about this anime; the characters, emotions and soundtracks.. :)
I hope they produce season 2 on the rest of the story!

What I thought somewhat of glass mask

I loved the drama that happened in this show. The drama was exciting for me, and I liked the plays the the did in the sires. This review is not going to be that long so yup. The last eps were some that I really liked.

Powerful and dramatic

The story really draws you in, episode after episode. It's a must watch shoujo anime. There is a love story. I love the relationship between Maya and Masumi. Each episode bring them closer. There is rivalry in acting. I like the intense competition between Maya and Ayumi. Both characters developed as they experience challenge after challenge in their career. Ayumi become less shallow and ...

The story really draws you in, episode after episode. It's a must watch shoujo anime. There is a love story. I love the relationship between Maya and Masumi. Each episode bring them closer. There is rivalry in acting. I like the intense competition between Maya and Ayumi. Both characters developed as they experience challenge after challenge in their career. Ayumi become less shallow and humble; and Maya becoming more confident and less self-conscious. Maya's teacher is probably what one calls "tiger mom." She really is very tough on Maya, to the point of being brutal. The Mangaka, Miuchi Suzue, is great at telling stories. The plays appeared in this anime is fantastic and mostly created by the mangaka. I recommend this anime over Skip Beat. Kyoko seems to have a lot of talent, but she does not have the sheer raw talent of Maya nor the hard drive of Ayumi. I found Skip Beat very entertaining, but Glass Mask really touched my heart.

I've watched this entire series several times, and most likely to watch it again some more!
The storylines are intense as you follow Maya throughout her life, aiming to become an actress- aiming to become the Scarlet Angel. The happy, depressing, tearjerker, passionate days filling Maya is just wonderful. Every play, every story will always have you on the edge of your seat!

I thought that this anime was awesome. It's so interesting and kept me wanting to watch more haha!! XD I loved how the storyline kept the watcher waiting for what happened next, and just as well, the characteristics and personalities that were attached to each of the characters made this anime all the more interesting.

For Maya and Masumi's Love

I really liked Maya, without her character the story would have crumbled. The story line was well played out. There was lots of Drama and Passion. But, on the other hand I am kind of angry because, it doesn't show us that Maya and Masumi will ever get together after the whole Ying-Yang scene. just finished watching this anime and it was AMAZING!!!

one of my all time FAVORITES!!!

I LOVED how it engulfed you into the story and kept you wanting for more!

I could easily connect with the characters and the plot was BEAUTIFUL!

the drama and romance of it all was VERY REALISTIC... Maya's passion for acting even made me consider acting! and it showed me to respect and appreciate the acting world a lot more and took me into the lives of actors and show business, I was left thinking about various things along the way, relationships, life, the world, my reason for being etc...

truly a CLASSIC & MASTERPIECE!!!

the only draw back for me was the ending as it did not finish it and was left open TT-TT, like how they did not play them in the Scarlet Angel, what happened with Maya & Masumi? did they end up together officially? etc..

I hope they make a sequel to finish it on a satisfying note. >3<
