If nothing else, I can vouch for the art
An exciting beginning, and beautiful art. Abe Miyuki is a truly talented mangaka, whose style is elaborate, slightly old fashion, and breathtaking, traits that I feared would be lost in this anime adaption, but seem to have been kept nicely. 5 years ago, Shino (main character), saved himself and Sosuke (blue-haired guy) from death, so they wouldn't leave Hameji (not pictured) alone, by allowing ...

Nice animation, can't watch it though...
Well, I can't watch this due to licensing (Netherlands, can't see a lot of animes here which kind of disappoints me) but this certainly seems very nice! I saw the op yesterday, and the Shoujo animation is very nice

A little early for a review actually
But this is probably when folks on the fence actually need one eh? :)

First this is nicely drawn. Nobody is going to run away from the artwork.
For me though an anime is all about the story, especially subtitled anime. I'm really enjoying this story thus far, This is one of those "dark mystery in their past" animes and they are doing a nice job of teasing out those details while keeping the ...

    Beautiful, intriguing, a must see.
Love the unique concept, beautiful animation and intriguing characters. Such impressive animation drew me in from the first episode. You won't be disappointed in this interesting story. Had to watch it twice it was so beautiful.

    Must Watch This Season!
I watch most anime every season and I must say that this season, it is one of the good ones! No fan service, good graphics, good plot, for everyone and it's funny but also have it's sad moments. I think that if you want something bs-free then this is the anime to watch!

  • Entertaining to say the least
Decent artwork, good voices, so far a very good show. Action sequences haven't left me wanting, and it is a good story so far that has been revealed. I find myself waiting for the next episode to come out.

Not usually my thing, however I'm intrigued
While I'm not sure if its just the fanservice towards the ladies but there are moments when it feels a yaoi scene will break loose and I'm always prepared to skip it, but it never does and I get ever more immersed in the story. The art styling is simply magnificent I do say, it is probably one of the most beautiful works I have seen in a long time visually, audibly, and depth of the story. I find ...

    Interesting anime...
So far it's really good! I love the art, story plot and characters!. The story plot is not confusing and the art is beautiful. but i kind of wish there is going to be more girls in the series so i'll stay tuned for that later in the series. The OP and ED is not disappointing and instead great! So i recommend that this is a must watch series for 2013!

Supernatural action pretty-boys (first 6 episodes)
This show has grabbed my attention, despite the reverse-harem/bishounen aspects of it. The pieces don't quite all fit together or move in the same direction yet, but there's a good core to build on for the rest of the season.

The idea of humans tied to supernatural beasts is an element of various cultures' mythology. Hakkenden takes this concept and throws it into a steampunk-ish but ...

  • Surprisingly Good and Addicting
I absolutely love the story of Hakkenden. It's great how well animated and colored it is, and I appreciate how they removed the more shoujo-style art that was used for the manga. I don't usually like watching series with only a few episodes (I'm at six so far), but I don't regret starting this one.
