Expect Happy Tears. Fest it up!
Starts out with some of the most unique character designs I've seen without going crazy and steadily builds upon the individual characters until you can't help but love every one of them. A touching series that avoids all the cliche we've come to expect of anime. It will make you cry again and again!

  • Come for the fun, stay for the friends.
Of all the shows I have watched, some have good characters, some have bad. But no show has made me feel like I knew so many of the characters as friends like Hanasaku Iroha. Make no mistake: this show has great art, great music (Hana no Iro, the opening is ridiculously catchy!), and a really great story. That's all well and good, but it's the superbly developed characters that raise this show up ...

  • Great slice of life anime.
Hanasaku Iroha is a great slice of life anime. It's not the best but not the worst out there. This anime has any great qualities about it. To me the best qualities were the scenery and how the plot move along smoothly. Only thing I didn't like much was how Ko was only in about 4 episodes

One of those animes that give you that warm feeling.
I was debating whether or not to give it five stars or not since my only flaw with the show was with the romantic subplot between Ohana and Ko. I felt it was shaky, Ko was an uninteresting character and a good portion of time was used up on it.

That aside, Hanasaku Iroha is a wonderful anime. Believable characters, wonderful plot, and a natural progression in everything about the show. Coming ...

  • Brilliant Coming of age slice of life fun.
This is a great slice of life anime, the core characters of the show are likeable, diverse and interesting, furthermore their is a beautiful arc of development for the main cast both individually and through various relationships between them across the course of the show. Beautifully animated and scored this show manages to bridge the balance of all the elements a great coming of age story needs. ...

  • It makes you want to bloom
Just as how a beautiful flower captured my attention, this anime does the same with its beautiful artwork. However, this anime does something more after I take a few moments to watch few of its first episodes. It had me hooked, and I could not stop to sniff its scent just once. I had to sniff its scent thoroughly and completely watch all of its episodes in a marathon fashion in order to be ...

Great Characters slow story, I remember growing up still have some to do.
The only strike I really have against Hanasaku Iroha is that the story takes a while to progress. This is not a weak point, I just personally prefer fast paced stories it gives you time to find out how the characters interact with one-another. Also I think this show appeals to both men and women.

Characters are good our heroine Ohana Matsumae is a naive every-girl who is more or less abandoned ...

One of my very favorite stories ever
The story is about a 16 year old girl named Ohana who is living uneasily with her mother. The mother gets a new boyfriend and decides to make Ohana travel hours away to stay at a mountain hot springs inn that is run by grandmother. Grandmother is cold to her, and so she must learn to work at the inn to earn her keep. It is tough and she is scolded a lot, and not liked by some of the staff, but ...

  • Trying to bloom, isn't easy.
Growing up, and living your own life isn't something that will be easy for everyone. In the case of Ohana, it's a very difficult road that takes her for a spin. Ohana is a 16 year old girl who left her Mother's house to live and work at her Grandmother's Ryokan. A Japanese style inn. During her stay, you go along with Ohana on an adventure full of life lessons, hardships, romance, family ...
