  • A Bud About to Bloom
This series is nice. I loved the cast of characters, and the score was beautiful. The animation was beautiful and great care was taken for accurate portrayals. However, the story I felt floundered a bit. It started off well, making you feel for the lead Ohana before the end of the first episode. The first half of the series did an excellent job continuing off that and building momentum. But I ...

  • A slice-of-life drama with some story arc.
High school girl is “abandoned” by her immature mother into the hands of her strict grandmother and put to work in the grandmother’s inn. There she meets other workers, some of which are also school mates, and begins the process of self-discovery and growing up. (“Festing it up!” as she begins to say.) She comes to understand and appreciate her mother’s life choices, the lives and individuality of ...

  • Highly Recommend!!!!!!!!!!!1
I highly recommend this anime to whoever enjoys a good slice of life with good character development. It was quite slow but still enjoyable because you are able to understand the characters more.
The main character Ohana was enjoyable to watch and surprisingly enjoyed her character and her relationship with those around her.
Beautiful animation as expected with PA works.

  • Changing and growing
This story seems like a perspective of one girl but it really is about how a place and the people in it can have a huge affect on your life and goals including how goals change over time. Beautiful, heartfelt, well animated and worth rewatching again.

  • Enjoyable from start to finish
I watched this show on a whim. Having never heard of it before, the story seemed cute enough. Cute doesn't even begin to describe it. I was so quickly drawn to the MC's charm, Ohana, a vivacious high school age girl who is sent off to work at her Grandmother's very traditional Inn. As the story unfolded, I was so taken with each character and their devotion to the place where they work. Not only ...

  • Well that was unexpectedly GREAT!
Wow...Good story lines the entire show, great animation, just enough characters. Absolutely loved this one, and totally binge worthy! I would totally revisit this show if they ever made a follow up, as there were a few story lines that could still be expanded on even more, though none of them felt incomplete when it was over.

  • Slice of Life Done Right
Hanasaku Iroha is slice of life done right. Characterization was done well enough to make you genuinely care about them, as well as where their own story arcs are going. There is a good mix of humor and serious tones, as well as a few parts which may tug on some heart strings, but luckily the show does not take itself too seriously. I would give it 4.5 stars if I could.

If you are looking for a ...

  • What an amazing Anime!
This anime is was so worth watching, the animation is beautiful, the story is great, the characters have their own things that make them special and the situations are something that can happen irl. The story revolves around a girl called Ohana that is sent to her grandmother's inn called "Kissuiso" and is shown what it means to work at the Kissuiso. She then meets a cool cast of characters that ...

  • A Pleasant Surprise!
This anime is surprisingly good. It certainly lacks in some areas, but as far as a good slice of life goes, Hanasaku Iroha has the basics perfected.

    The Pros:

The Characters -- It has sweet, lovable characters. Even if you find yourself disliking one of them, you'll probably like them by the end of the series. Every character is a cliche in their own right, however, ...

I came in for the animation - I left for the childlabor
I came into this anime expecting a slice-of-life story of a girl growing up. Hardships, personal growth, joys of day to day life.
Sadly, what I got instead, was a waste of good quality animation on a series that has made me feel... skeeved? Disgusted?
Before I even go into my points, I'd like to drop an actual, honest to god trigger warning list for the series:
    - Child abuse
    -
