Humanity Has Declined

and this show is no exception.

The dialogue is great, the animation fits everything together so well and the art...well I wouldn't have it any other way. The style is perfect.

This show also gives you the feeling that there's something more. I really read into the subtitles and try to figure out the meaning and message (it's like i'm in college again studying papers in english class =p ). On top of that, the storyline is just goofy and entertaining, but still holds that mysterious feeling of "i know there's something more to this."

It also helps that the main character has become one of my favorite and very kawaii XD

Most of this show doesn't make a great deal of sense, partly by design and partly (presumably) because of rushing through the source material. And it's a comedy, so you can't really get strongly attached to the characters or situations. Oh, and the episodes appear to be in random order time-wise.

But it's cute without being stupid and funny without being tired. And the main character is awesome (and beautifully voiced). I felt like I was actually watching something new the whole time. How often does that happen?

Oh, and the ending song is really good. (It's a shame they cut it out for half the episodes).

Most anime reviewers will give any anime a good review. I try to be a bit more helpful.

The artwork is very different. For good or bad is a subjective thing, but it is definitely different.

This show is pretty dull. It has cute moments, I laughed out loud in two or three scenes through the series, but as a whole is pretty dull.

Episodes are in reverse chronological order, though there is no particular reason for them to be. Someone tried to be too "artistic" and made a simple story aggravating. Episodes 8 and 9 were so repetitive I wanted to punch the director. Characters with what could be interesting stories simply vanish. I finished the series only because I was procrastinating and putting off more important matters.

I recommend leaving it for when you've already burned through all the good anime on the site.

There are many things to impress upon with Humanity Has Declined, but what would be a good place to start? The truth that humanity as a whole has given up on progressing and has left the world to the next evolution of their species, the fairies? Perhaps the mystery surrounding the existence of the fairies who they themselves know naught what brought about their creation? Even the Mediator and her personal struggle to grasp the horrifying truth that her purpose in life has little impact on the present or the future would make a striking point to begin with. However, one of the most striking questions can be answered with the title in mind. Why has humanity declined? We did not get to this point just by dropping everything at the tip of a hat, or did we? Could we really have lost our resolve so simply and given in to the flow of time? Let's get to it.

Mincing words would do injustice to this remarkable series. From it's simplistic art style to its soft color palette, we are shown a world free of conflict since the beginning. War has simply ceased because humanity no longer has a reason to fight. With the appearance of the fairies as the second humanity, there is no reason to waste time or lives because we have no say over the future any longer. To come to this conclusion is not only depressing, but it shows that at some point humanity's greatest trait to achieve and progress was simply seen as futile compared to the technologically advanced fairies. However, what has humanity gained because of this? How do people fulfill their lives in a world where they make monuments to honor humanities past yet make no attempts to progress? Is it possible to understand this humanity that has given no thought to future and only live through the present?

To conclude this, I would say that this series was amazing. Its rare to see an anime that tells us "we can't" or "we won't" and then gives us some light to understand why this is not a fate, but a choice shared by all that makes up the remaining will of humanity. Humanity is still in decline. :3

The characters are fantastic. The series started of a little confusing but I promise you by the end of the series you will be wondering , " Why only 12 Episode!"

The adult aspect of this anime is because of the witty humor and sometimes horrifying situations. Looks are very deceiving, I am not into color anime but this is definitely the exception. By the end of the first episode I was dying of laughter and "dafuq-ness" lmao. Enjoy and don't miss out on Humanity Has Declined.

Humanity Has Declined is now one of my new favorite shows. I would advise, as have many others, that this is not for viewers who want things light, fluffy, and easily/over explained. There are many layers in these episodes, and the comedy is usually dark and comments on society. The dialogue is very quick and witty, and the characters are flawed in fantastic ways. Although the "technology" is so stupidly advanced for the fairies that it's completely implausible, the characters themselves are very human and we are able to relate to them. There can be a few slow bits, but the series is altogether worth watching and very original.
