This episode is so stupid. The guy surrendered last episode. Then he doesn't bet all that the guy is alive. Then he lets her change sides of the bet after she already wagered the guy being unconscious. I hate when writers do this crap.

Leroute and the prisoners have the advantage here in that they got nothing to lose. Sure they could get more time on their sentence but what difference does 20 more years on a 99 year sentence make? She can bet without any real repercussion

While Leroute changing her bet is cheap the thing about gambling is that "the house always wins". Leroute changes the bet because she can. She's the house. She makes the rules. Leorio can only make rules with the approval of the prisoners.

@iRobyn He did the same thing in the manga. It's just that no one heard him surrender, so the prisoners took the opportunity to buy as much time as they could to reduce their prison sentences.

The main thing that bothers me about this episode is that at the end of the last episode, that guy did surrender before Kurapica punched him. So the fact that this is an issue now is annoying. He didn't surrender in the original series.
