They leave out some of material, and I read interviews with the creator of this new series, and he had said that he wanted to create the new series to have it follow the manga more closely. Now this left me confused because the old series followed the manga EXACTLY. I've read the manga 5 times, and watched the series around 15. So I'm what you call a fan... After watching through this series I can honestly say this isnt true. All I can hope for is this series generates more buzz and fandom to push Yoshihiro Togashi to finish this out!!!
So first off, I was most concerned with Hisoka. What a great character, they just dont finish him completly in this series and I have to say.. What where they thinking??? I was excited to see Hisoka go 'berserk' in Exam Phase 4 when he has to let Kurapica and Leorio go... It was done better (and more close the manga as well) in the original series. I didn't get the feeling at all that Hisoka's character was a bit psychopathic, in fact I almost feel like if I was watching the first time. I would of been confused. He doesn't go berserk, goes into a state void. What a big let down
Next is Hisoka's choice of music. I mean they play spanish fiesta music when he comes on. Its ridiculous, I dont know what they are going for, but I think they are ruining his character with this. I dont think this is what Yoshihiro Togashi would want the theme music for Hisoka to be. For those who haven't seen HxH. Hisoka is Hannibal Lecter, and how Hannibal has Spanish guitar and clapping when he makes an entrance... .... I lost a screw when I first heard this.. What a let down
That being said, I dont know who much this series creator is working with Yoshihiro Togashi. Because there seems to be tiny bits of new content in this series, so thats nice. Any super fan wouldnt want to miss this series. HxH is still a great show in the hands of this producer. Even though I feel they are taking Hisoka in the wrong direction.
