Ixion Saga DT

Some people compare this anime to SAO + Gintama. I'm not too sure, I'll let you decide on that, but what I can say is that:

This anime certainly has the 'laid back' kind of feel. The main character has been virtually sucked into some strange gaming world by some women he met ingame and promised to 'help her' with something. However, unlike SAO there is -no- kind of 'tragic' feeling to it - the main character never mentions how he misses home and doesn't seem overly fussed about the whole ordeal. He's a classic skinny angry guy who wants to be the protagonist (ironically, he is, but moving on) and meet lots of virtual sexy women.

The bad guys are some uniformed men with strange hairdos and viewers will have the inability to take them seriously whatsoever. This anime does not have epic fights but running gags everytime they enter a 'fight', normally the main character kicking the leader in the balls and cracking one or two.

His companions consist of a loli princess who has a muscler man and a transexual for guards. Later on they find a small panda-cat thing for a pet. The story is the protagonist trying to get home and agrees to accompany the three individuals until he finds a way to do this, the princess advising him to go to the main city of the game as he might find something there.

Strenghs/Weaknesses:

-The story is relatively weak. Although he's been sucked into a game there's very little notice of it and it just feels like he's on a new planet.
-It's very light hearted and the jokes are quite good (although nowhere as good as gintama in my own opinion).
-The voice actors are superb, you'll recognise a few.
-It has only been a couple of episodes and holds potential for the future.
-Odd animation style. Some will love it, others hate it.

Should I watch this?:

If you're looking for an anime that makes sense, this will not do you well and give you many headaches. If you're just looking for a laugh and enjoy watching unserious stuff with a fairly immature sense of humour (not in a bad way, each to our own), you'll enjoy this. If you're somewhere in the middle.. you might like this anime, but this won't reach your tops.

This anime might have potential in the future but right now I personally believe it only holds 3/5 max. It might change but I'm not expecting anything epic.

This is one of the pearls in the release lineup.
This anime is a parody over most of the generic things there are in JRPG's and animes. Even though that fact makes this anime somewhat generic itself, it does what it does extremely well, and will make you laugh.
Generic won't equal bad if it's done as well as in this anime.

The other review said that this anime is for young tweebs. But the fact that this anime is parodying so many different things, proves otherwise.
Even though you won't get a original piece from this, this is in every way a well done anime.

The main character is your general ''hard-working'', resolved guy, who does stuff when he has to. He is transported into a fantasy world after he promised to help a ''girl?'' in a MMO.
Right after transportation he falls down from the sky with his chair falling onto a guy who was about to kill some important characters.. Now the ''evil guys'' are following the main character as well, leaving him no choice, but to follow the people he saved.
It makes so much fun of the usual JRPG and anime things, that it's actually a pleasant thing to watch.

P.S: This review was written after the first episode, so it doesn't really apply for the 20+ episodes that may follow.

Plot
Kon Hokaze is playing an MMORPG, he receives a request from a female character in the game. Next thing he knew, he finds himself transported into the world of Mira where he accidentally saves a young princess by landing on her attacker with his chair. KOn has no idea how to get home, so Kon tags along with the princess as her bodyguard protecting her from a military group that is opposed to the princess's arranged marriage.

This anime is mainly a comedy that slowly follows the storyline. I suggest this to anyone who is look for a good laugh. I'm very impressed with how the comedy fit into the storyline. I hope you enjoy watching.

Well to start off, this is a very boring anime for about the first ten episodes or so, but then it really picks up. It has a very good plot to it, which I won't give away, but it makes you want to keep watching. The characters are a tad flat though, you can sorta guess what one will say, and how the next will respond. All in all, a very good anime that some will hate, and others will love. Honestly I'm hoping for a second season.
Pros: A fascinating story, great animation, humor in almost every episode, interesting characters to an extent, and a good emotional moment here and there.
Cons: Some characters were flat, and the story was a tad hard to follow.
Notable Features: Extremely perverted so be careful, otherwise nothing too noteworthy, other than episode 22, which I enjoyed a lot.

Ixion Saga DT is funny. The writers (and subbers because there are a few lines of subs that aren't uttered by the voice actors) did one helluva good job. I don't tend to find sophomoric jokes funny and I am surprised more than anyone how much I enjoyed this anime. My thinking is mostly if I were suddenly thrown into the world of a video I were playing, I'd react just like Kon, our protagonist. There's one episode where Kon has what you might call severe home sickness. It was hilarious in that everyone probably would go through something similar. I think that's the magic of Ixion. They made a fantasy comedy and pretty much kept the over the top behavior of much of it's characters "real." OK that makes absolutely no sense but neither does Ixion Saga DT most times. Thankfully.
