Ixion Saga DT

Since there are no reviews yet, I'm posting this in the hopes of saving someone the painful loss of 20 minutes of their life. If you're not the target audience (tween boys) this anime will most likely repulse you. Here's a quick breakdown:

Plot: Gamer nerd mysteriously transported into a fantasy game world (curse you SAO for making this meta-narrative horribly over-used this season). It's been done before in every way. Fantasy world is generic, nerd boy is generic. The only unique aspect is the tranny handmaiden.

Art: Look at the splash art. That tells you everything you need to know. Very saturday-morning anime, with Yu-Gi-Oh hair everywhere. Simple and stupid.

Humor: If you can't see all the jokes coming a mile away, or haven't heard them before, enjoy this show. On the other hand, if you're older than 13 and weren't raised by ultra-conservative baptists who only let you watch PBS up till now, this anime will insult you with its sad attempts at comedy.

It's certainly bad form to review a show based on one episode. However, there are exceptions to that rule and this is one of them. Save yourself the mental anguish and don't watch this drivel.

This is one of the pearls in the release lineup.
This anime is a parody over most of the generic things there are in JRPG's and animes. Even though that fact makes this anime somewhat generic itself, it does what it does extremely well, and will make you laugh.
Generic won't equal bad if it's done as well as in this anime.

The other review said that this anime is for young tweebs. But the fact that this anime is parodying so many different things, proves otherwise.
Even though you won't get a original piece from this, this is in every way a well done anime.

The main character is your general ''hard-working'', resolved guy, who does stuff when he has to. He is transported into a fantasy world after he promised to help a ''girl?'' in a MMO.
Right after transportation he falls down from the sky with his chair falling onto a guy who was about to kill some important characters.. Now the ''evil guys'' are following the main character as well, leaving him no choice, but to follow the people he saved.
It makes so much fun of the usual JRPG and anime things, that it's actually a pleasant thing to watch.

P.S: This review was written after the first episode, so it doesn't really apply for the 20+ episodes that may follow.

Now this is the kind of anime I enjoy watching. Its great watching regular animes with a serious plot or conflict, and then there's anime such as this. Anime witch completely come from nowhere and hook immediately. I love the humor and the characters. It reminds me so much of gintama. I watched anime like SAO and I lost interest, because the main character was bland and cliche. This is how a person would really act in the situation. Just give it a try and keep an open mind this is not your typical anime.

I'd rather watch a generic RPG inspired anime than a parody with corny jokes dragging on aimlessly. Feeling sorry I wasted time on this.

Aw. And I gotta write another 64 characters about this? Fine. It's average in all respects except maybe the end credits which are kinda fun. Talking of which, it does have this yaoi thing going on, which as far as I understand is part of the parody/comical side.
In my opinion, not worth a look.

This anime makes fun of so many mainstream stereotypical cliched anime characters and cliched plot that it's ridiculously funny.

Negative reviews stem from those who probably hasn't had overexposure to overused characterisation and plot in action and romance animes alike.

Sword Art Online is definitely not the first anime that deals with fantasy, gaming and virtual reality... think Neon Genesis Evangelion and Ghost in the Shell.

Ixion Saga DT makes fun of animes that deal with characters suddenly appearing to another dimension, facing a trouble, OVER macho male, tsundere female character and overly sweet female characters.

This is an excellent watch if you are tired of stupid anime characters in mainstream animes and you like to see them being made fun of.

while most of the jokes can be "seen coming a mile away", its still funny when they pop up. the voice actors are really good at adding to the comedy as well, plus the art is great. its a huge bundle of cliches and gags thrown into a huge comedy. its supposed to be cliche as thats part of its comedy routine.... not sure why it gets bashed for being what its supposed to be. especially since taking this genre to gag comedy is actually kind of new. usually you get sword art(also known as .hack 2.0), or berserk or something. every one completely cliche in its entire storyline, and yet no one gives any crap about that. they have to save it all for the anime that made a few ball jokes. grow up cuz most of you trying to sound mature sound like 13yo girls that get offended by the existence of male reproductive organs..... plus at least this show is realistic about what happens with excessive blows to the area.

after getting to the end I'm very happy that i watched this show, and would LOVE a second season. everything is so ridiculous and perfect that it surprisingly stayed funny for at least 23 of the 25 episodes(the stupid cop parody episode near the end, and one ep near the beginning i didnt care for). anyway show will make you laugh hard as long as you arent 10 feet up your own a. do yourself a favor and watch it
