Kanamemo is an anime that talks mainly about a girl named, Kana, and how her friends becomes her family. After her parents died. Her only relative left was her grandmother, who also pasted away. Sadly crying, she found out that not only does she have no family members left, but men were going to take away all the things she had plus the house. Kana quickly packed all the things she can and walked down the street looking for a place to live and work.
Walking past the streets. Kana found a place to work at, for a newspaper routing. She gets a room and also food to eat. Deciding if she will work there, see saw the workers coming out for the newspaper routes. To Kana, it was not normal to see 2 workers kissing each other, and another worker being touched by a drunk. So Kana decided to move on. Walking more, one of the newspaper workers from earlier crashed into Kana with her bike. Then took Kana to the Newspaper's Headquarters. When Kana woke up, she remembered that this was the place she wanted to work at, but seeing the workers conditions changed her mind. In the end, she got hired because of her amazing cooking skills.
And so, Kana's life began to change when she became more closer to the job. And found herself with a new life, and a new family.

Kanamemo is a comedy possibly yuri anime.
It's a hilarious anime. Lots of laugh, and overload on cuteness.
I wish the ecchi and yuri would be left out, I'm not really big on Haruna-san. lol
It's a fun anime, recommended if you love slice-of-life comedy.

I felt so sorry for Kana but she ends up in a great place. Saki is younger that her and running a business. There are 2 lesbians ie. Yume and Yuuki. a seriously crazy Haruka who has a really has a liking for lolita's. Then there is Hinata who is a gambler. To top that all off she meets Mika, she puts on airs but she really like Kana. I laughed and laughed.

Ok so this show is just wonderful and I really enjoyed watching it. It's a wonderful story about Kana-Chan and her journey from being an orphan to figuratively adopted by the Fuushin Gazette; the place where she runs away to work at.
Storyline: The story was very good and had alot of episodes that were deep and episodes that just made me burst out laughing. It is a carefully thought out plot and I just loved it.
Music: THE MUSIC IS JUST WONDERFUL. It's cheerful, upbeat and just a pleasure to listen to. The Opening is creative and I just can't stop watching it! T-T
Characters: This is where it's all at.
-Kana Chan is the main character and she is different from other clutzy girls in animes out there. She's naive, innocent and most of all a mature girl when the situation calls for her to change. She is extremely clumsy, has a wild imagination and is annoying at times. But she's human and I think this show just enforces us to accept people as they are because there's a reason why they are that way.
-Saki Chan is the "Chief" of the Fuushin Gazette. She has the mind of maybe a 30 year old woman trapped inside the body of a 7 year old?
But anyways, she has an interesting personality. She's bossy, sometimes violent and just a *****. But you see her real side, and she's a
sweet young girl who just has alot of responsibility on her hands. Being a loli, she's cute of course and I just loved her character.
-Haruka San is the probably the eldes of the girls working at the Fuushin Gazette. Being a lesbian/pedophile she preys on the Chief and
Kana ALOT. She's always fantasizing about the two in bathing suits and such and such. Besides being a alcoholic and molester, she's a
cool character. When she's not molesting the younger girls, she resides as a role model and a kind of 'mother' to the girls.
-Yume Chan is one of the cutest girls in any anime I've seen. She's just adorable and has the cutest hairstyle until she comes out
of the Gazette workplace and makes out with Yuuki...ANYWAYS she is an energetic young girl who attends a Cooking Academy so she's always baking goodies or adding too much sugar to things. She's the ideal girl a guy would want to go out with. Incredibly loyal to her loved ones and a hilarious personality.
-Yuuki San is probably the second oldest in the Gazette to Haruka. She is Yume's lover and is incredible jealous when she talks or touches someone else but respects Yume's freedom and just sulks in a corner (haha). Yuuki was the character the audience least gets to know about. She seldom speaks, but when she does she is a caring woman and cares for everyone.
-Hinata Chan is my favorite character in this anime. She seems to be the only 'sane' person in the Gazette workplace besides the Chief and is reallly cute. Hinata is a gambler/lottery addicted person and it's a realistic thing for people to try to test their luck. She acts as a barrier between Haruka and Kana which is funny. She acts pretty guyish and wears tomboyish looking clothes most of the time but she's a great character. She's nice and acts as a mother to the group as well.
-Mika Chan is the character in most animes depicted as the "rich" and "snobby" character. And she suits it perfectly. I liked her character alot too because she was indeed a girl from a richer society but she was a good girl on the inside and befriended Kana and held an excellent relationship with her until she developed a crush on her!? But other than that she's a cute loli who fits this anime perfectly.
Animation is very good in my opinion. I'm not a picky person and any animation that has a modern look and isn't too sloppy is just fine for me. Some scenes in this anime are just AMAZING.
Overall. I loved this anime ALOT. It's kinda comparable to animes such as Clannad or Toradora! It's mainly a Slice of Life genre, with a pinch of comedy and yuri in it. About the Yuri, I like Yuri not cause it's hot and such. But Because I find it very emotional and touching. Yume and Yuuki had a really emotional relationship in this anime and I loved the way the producers presented it because at some points I wondered to myself. "Wow, this should be an entirely different anime with just these two characters."
Enough of my ranting. Anyone who loves Slice of Life and Comedy Genre's MUST try watching this. If your a yuri chaser, go ahead too.
I promise you won't be dissapointed.

is the slightly pervey nature and bi-nature of some of the characters which i think would should have been left out of the series

Just finished the season just minutes ago, and I gotta say...I REALLY enjoyed watching this show!! ^_^ It's not Lucky Star, nor is it Genshiken, but this slice of life anime has an appeal of its own (i guess loli fits in that appeal too -_-; lol).
The characters themselves are very interesting and the absence of one really does make a difference in the show, such as in a certain episode when a hyper-active bakery specialist goes home(not gonna give too much spoilers :P) I was distraught that one of the most bubbly personalities of the show vanished from the scene though she comes back (THANK GOD!)
And to wrap it all up, if you're into the slice of life and comedy genre then you have GOT to try watching this show!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
P.S. If anyone gets any news on the release of season 2 for this show please message me!!!!! Thank you!!!

Kanamemo is a charming piece of work about an orphan, Kana. Her only living relative left, her grandmother, dies, and leaves her with no place to go - until she finds the Fushin Gazette by chance. If you're thinking that you've heard this plot before (Fruits Basket), then you're wrong. Kanamemo stands by itself.
Kanamemo is really about the family-like relationship Kana develops with the members of the newspaper. There's a dash of humor in almost every episode, but the show can also be serious. At times, you feel the girls' tension and panic. At others, you notice the humor in their situations. And sometimes, the show makes you so warm and fluffy inside you want to cry.
If you're the type to watch a show for the music, Kanamemo will probably get you hooked. The music in the show is cute and upbeat, with a somewhat childish edge. The opening is Kimi he to Tsunagu Kokoro, by the seiyuus of Kana, Saki, and Mika (Aki Toyosaki, Kaoru Mizuhara, and Rie Kugimiya respectively), and the ending is Yahho! by Yui Horie.
There is some fanservice (not so much that the show is adulterous) and alcohol, but usually this just adds to the humor. (There's an entire beach episode which is pretty bad but ends up pretty cute). If you're looking to try a comedic, somewhat fanservice-y, and heartwarming show, look no further, Kanamemo is definitely for you.

Kanamemo doesn't seem to have a definite beginning or end, but it is the beginning of the cute story of Kana. She's a 13 year old girl who seems to have lost everything, but in the face of adversity she picks herself up and does her best everyday. After starting work at a newspaper delivery service she meets several girls who seem to have their own stories. Although you never learn too much about anyone's background story, this anime was short, cute, and just plain fun to watch. I recommend this to anyone who like the cute school life anime.
