You know, when I woke up, I was in a good mood. I wasn't sick anymore, and I found a great new anime...
GA . That was a great anime with easy to love characters. It was a gem that as far as I could tell CR had just added. So when I found this one I had hoped it would be more of the same.
Nope.
I'm tempted to knock off there but I guess I should continue. This show does have elements of good. Like 1 minutes worth per episode, but you didn't come to me to hear how good it is, let's start counting the negatives shall we?
1. The main characters face. I know it seems like a small issue, but his face is red. So either he's constantly blushing or has really bad sunburn, either way, kinda weird. And its not an art thing because other male characters have normal faces. Is he supposed to be native american and the japanese are just racist? I don't get it.
2. The main character who meets him at the door. These characters are annoying and played out enough before you tack on the fact she gets angry and punches him in the face every chance she gets. And come on, those breasts are way to big for her body. Seriously, make them smaller. While your there, make the girl in pink's boobs smaller too.
3. Misaki Hayakawa - everything. ok ok ok. So everything she says, she says in this voice like she's about to cum. So I can only assume that whenever we can't see her hands she's masturbating!
4. Kemeko's design. First off, unless that thing is a bloody Tardis, there is no way she could fit in it. Secondly, wtf? It looks stupid and unweildly and like it would never be good in battle. You want to add action to a love story? Fine. More power to you. Gurren Lagaan showed us how that could be done just fine. The trick is to make your characters awesome!
Look at
Angel Beats. That anime doesn't rely on giant breasts to sell itself. No it relies on violence and story. These are the two main components to any epic. Violence and story. But mainly Story! And if you hadn't noticed, even my untrained colleague gave this thing a low story ranking.
Now M.M. (wikipedia says that is the name of the girl in pink) is the only one who save this series for me. Despite her creepy attraction to Kemeko, every scene with her is gold because she actually does stuff! You get a feel for her right away and laugh at her antics. She is basically the
Kamina to this series and the only one I really cared about. I nearly cried when she got back into Kemeko.
It would actually be pretty easy to fix this series. Simply cut out Hayakawa and that orange haired kid with the glasses. Change Kobayashi's face so its not red anymore, give Kemeko a decent design for a female bot (aka something sleek that matches the pilot, not the body type used as an example for an obese woman) maybe change the entrance so its a front entrance than a top. the whole bot just reeks of lazy design. Oh and cut out the girl who meets him at the front door. That or tone her back. Like way back.
All in all I would not put this anywhere high on my list, except maybe around 7 of the worst anime I've ever seen.
ED song was good though...

Oh yeah, I forgot I was going to comment on animes ending with no real ending. It seemed an issue for
abe1992, so I thought I better address it. Have you seen Chobits? Remember how that was such a let down? The ending was so phoned in and made no sense. Or hellsing the TV series. Phoned in made no sense. I'm cool with an anime ending on a cliffhanger. It means their may be more somewhere down the road. After years Strike Witches finally got a second season so we know its possible. But if theirs one thing I hate more than any other anime, its an anime that rushes its ending. the ending is the best part, and except from the opening the most memorable. That's why the end of an anime should only be when the story has actually ended. Which is why Conan will never become Jimmy Kudo again. Cause he keeps getting more seasons.
