  • Kids on the Slope - Sakamichi no Apollon
I am an anime enthusiast and have been watching anime for as long as I can remember. Kids on the Slope is by far one most memorable series I have ever watched. In fact, I watched it from start to finish in one day. It is simply THAT good. This is a beautiful story about an unlikely friendship through music(jazz). I'm not even a jazz fan and I HAD to buy the soundtrack. Please watch, I can promise ...

  • A masterpiece for me
I laughed, I cried, I listened to good music. 11/10 would slope again.
Really though it was a very emotionally poignant experience for me. Might just be that as a musician without a band (and who is also missing love in his life after about a year out of relationship) this show played on a lot of my fond memories and desires.

Well written, beautifully animated, plus great tunes.

  • Ridiculously Surprised!
I've never been a huge fan of Slice of Life anime, but this show made it to my top three favorite anime of all time after one viewing. This show was a perfect mix of beautiful imagery, fantastic music (especially all that jazz which isn't something I even listen to!), and very real characters and situations. I can honestly say that I loved every moment in this show - they were perfectly pieced ...

Hooks You With Tunes, Then Drama
I enjoyed the sound track to this show quite a bit, and the premise of jazz pulling these kids together certainly lends itself to exploring a fair few number of tunes. At the same time, don't go in expecting to be truly acquainted with the genre of music if you aren't familiar with it already - this show very much provides a sip, not a thirst quenching fill.

Part of the reason for that is it ...

Inspiring, but leaving me wanting so much more.
I had my doubts before watching this anime, but once I started I couldn't stop. I power played through the series because it is just that good! Anyone who has any affection for the jazz genre of music will find this entertaining. The historical backdrop that the anime takes place in is rich to say the least and delivers a nostalgic punch to the viewer. After finishing the series I instantly felt ...

    A Great Story, Ok Ending
This is a story that grabbed my attention quickly. A story full of excitement, fun, and love. Anyone who loves jazz or a slice of life story, this is a must watch. Kids on The Slope presents it's self just perfectly in it's first episode with amazing animation and music. However as the episodes move on, we get fewer scenes with music and more drama. Which is not a bad thing considering it's a 12 ...

    From a musician's View
I was nothing more than a rock guitarist at the time I watched this series. Two years later, I find myself looking into their direction of music while keeping that rock and roll sound. Nevertheless, this is a great anime. I'm going to watch it again.

  • Wonderful and touching series
This series warms my heart, I truly enjoyed it and wish there was more. Great music and true friendship. I cried often throughout the series and I enjoyed all of the character and the storyline. Why can't we see this type of stuff on regular TV shows?

A True Slice Of Life...From Start To Finish
Kids on the Slope demonstrates to viewers just what a Slice of Life is really about. Nothing in this show feels forced. The characters and events just simply flow along like the jazz they all love so much.

Just as there are chords and notes in jazz that seem off and rough at times, so too are the lives of Kaoru and Sentaro when they have to deal with their love and friendship relationships. ...
