  • Yoko Kano, Jazz and Swing
A slice of life story about two kids who couldn't be any more different. Finding an Unbreakable bond of friendship through Swing Music. Like any slice of life that stays with you, the characters are multi layered and interesting. As an adult I could relate to many of the rights of passage the protagonist goes through be it the great successes and the grand disappointments all accompanied by an ...

  • Jazz and Youth Go Together Like Cream and Coffee
Being young is a crazy time in your life, things aren't promised forever, and as a college student reaching their senior year, nothing rings more true than this. Kids on The Slope tells a story of three main characters going to school and dealing with their daily lives.

Though what makes this different than a regular high school anime is just that, the kids, the characters, their drives and ...

  • Watched this because of an AMV
I had never heard of this show until I saw an AMV at Anime Boston for it. I was pleasantly surprised to see Crunchyroll had it. I'm really just writing this review so that I can put in my 5 stars for it. I hope others can come across it as well.

It's another anime set in high school, but it moves very quickly and the characters development is very good. Most of them will charm your heart. The ...

  • Don't Sleep on This Anime Set in the 1960s
This is a fantastic anime. It's beautifully done and the characters are easy to get attached to. Plus it's short enough to finish in a day (if you commit) while still being a fulfilling and well rounded story. Shinichiro Watanabe (Cowboy Bebop, Samurai Champloo) has done it again with a great show. It will make you want to listen to jazz even if you've never really listened to it before. As ...

  • Absolutely one of the best shows of all time.
The coming of age story can't be beat, it's not just about love and growing up in school, but growing up with a changing political scene, growing up breaking the expectations of your parents, and a little bit of love coming of age too.

The music scenes are FANTASTICALLY animated. First off, the jazz choices are impressive, then to actually see the characters play it properly, is pretty ...

  • Actually really good
So, I really like this show. I like the characters, I love the music, and the animation is astoundingly detailed (especially the jam sessions). The only thing I don't like is it gets so darn angsty.

Oh well, jazz makes it better. Jazz makes everything better.

  • Where I Found My Favorite Anime Scene
Existence of a superior drummer within fiction is exceedingly improbable as "Kids on the Slope" presents one whose expertise exclusively perpetuates enthusiasm among viewers with musical interests. Aside from skillful demonstrations of musicianship, its romantic developments remain slightly inferior to strenuous tensions in friendships shown throughout.

Little occurs beyond scenarios previously ...

  • Great music, art, story, etc
I don't know how I didn't find this anime until now, but nevertheless I was super impressed! The story works, the art is great and the animation superb, and the characters are totally convincing! I loved the music and really connected with the series as a whole. I am sad that it is over and I can't watch any more

  • A substantive, engaging, story - fantastic Jazz scenes
The animation of the instrument playing has a magnificent attention to detail. Also, the music is great for listening. The creators have achieved a very realistic, and interesting, world for their characters, and the characters are well developed. They all hit their story notes perfectly, almost every time. The ending was ok. I felt like the writer knew what he wanted it to be, but not how to get ...

  • Great for family bonding.
I watched the entire series in one sitting with my dad. We both really enjoyed it which was a wonderful surprise. It's nice to have such a personal story told in such a way that we both could appreciate it.

The art style is wonderfully distinctive and a marked departure from the style of recent years; after a while I stopped thinking of it as anime, which I think is a testament to the ...
