  • slice of life about friends who share passion for jazz
Kids on the Slope is one of my favorite anime series i've seen in a while. it's got a great nostalgic slice-of-life feel to it, and the story revolves around a couple friends who love jazz music during 1960's Japan. personally, i love jazz, so it might have been easier for me to enjoy this because i thought the soundtrack couldnt be better. not to mention the animation- the music making scenes ...

  • Beauty in Simplicity
This is definitely one of my favorite coming of age anime. The artwork is simple but that simplicity is what I love because it enhances the beauty and depth of the characters' feelings and experiences. I also love jazz and how this anime incorporates jazz as a way to express the characters' emotions & the mood of the story. What else can I say...? This anime is just a beautiful piece of aesthetic ...

  • Am I the only one who felt really sad watching through this?
I don't know why, but this show made me sad a lot. I really adored this show, being the second anime show I've ever watched, I don't feel like much will top it. And watching it put me in a mood where even the happy moments seemed...it reminded me a lot of my own high school days. Watching this is like looking back at all the moments I could have had and never had and now those childish dreams are ...

  • Absolutely Stunning!
This show is filled with so much raw emotion and beautiful moments. It captures the highs and lows of growing up in a remarkable way. Life is not always easy, and the people who may seem the most different can come to be the closest of companions. Kids on the Slope manages to encapsulate life's ups and downs while feeling genuine and unforced in its conclusions. Powerful stuff.

  • Wow!!! Wow!!! Wow!!!
Beautifully done! The artwork, storyline, the characters, the animation and the music! A great "coming of age" story set in the mid to late 1960s (is my guess...).

A great story of three friends, two of whom will be forever connected through a jazz song; it always brings them back.

I love the artwork and animation of the characters performing - one of the best I've seen in a long time. ...

  • Now I need another series to fill the void...
Just did a marathon of this inadvertently. My first impressions from the first few episodes were that this was a good anime, but after so many series that either plateaued or became mediocre, there was no indication that it would just get better and even become one of my favourites. 10/10 GREAT ANIME

  • At the Top of Its Class.. or Slope In This Case
Loved how this anime progressed. The character development was top notch; you can't help but connect with even the side characters. The animation was brilliant, especially since the small town that acts as the environment is an actual place in Japan! The level of detail in comparison is nearly identical. There's a very unique and original feel to it, and I was happy to find there weren't any ...

  • You must watch. Amazin
The music, the characters the plot are all amazing. While the time skips are annoying at times everything else makes up for it. Ever single character develops and becomes their own person.

  • This Series has it all
Comedy, drama, romance, camaraderie, and the best soundtrack I've ever heard. You will laugh and cry with this series. This is a very music heavy series (jazz) and if you're anything like me, it will make you want to give jazz a chance. I've been listening to Art Blakey for weeks since I've finished this series.
