Good, but it leaves you hanging.
I really enjoyed the story. A lot of the plot focuses on war as a means for economic gain, which is a little deep for a lot of viewers. Throwing in 2 currency theory, inflation, wtf?! Maō means to create a free market utopia with the help of Yusha. Demons and humans serve as allegorical devices trying to get you to change your mind about what is good, what is evil.

What gets me, and maybe I'm ...

War! Huh! Good God, y'all! What is it good for?! Apparently, profiting.
Remember your first impression of Holo (from Spice and Wolf)? Y'know, when she was freaking naked? You wouldn't have thought it was actually a series about economics, would you? The same idea is at work here, with Maoyuu Maou Yuusha. Don't be distracted by the ample bosom, this isn't about boobs.

    Starting off as a web-story-turned-Light-Novel, ...

    A beautiful documentary
At the core of most fantasy stories is the story of good versus evil. It’s a matter of perspective to be true, and that is really something that Maoyu plays on. The story is presented in the way that most fantasy novels end, with the Hero facing the great “Evil.” Now put a dramatic pause here. Too obvious?

Maoyu is a series that starts out playing on the fact that you think you know what ...

excellent, and I do mean excellent!
As others have stated, if you enjoyed Spice and Wolf you will enjoy this. That was all I needed to hear and the marathon began!

The comparison to Spice and Wolf is inevitable, so I will get that out of the way. This does have several similar themes to Spice and Wolf, the character of the show is very similar, as is the setting and the types of characters present. Maoyu is definitely more ...

    Never expect the unexpected
I wasn't sure if I was going to enjoy this, people said that it has the same cast as Spice and Wolf which I didn't watch but heard was very good. I have to say that everything about Maoyuu Maou Yuusha is amazing from the characters, music, animations and especially the story.

What is evil really? interesting question to ask yourself when you're watching this. A demon king that wants to end ...

    Appealing to all sorts
Maoyu is a great anime!! Why only the 3 starts then, I feel as if they could have done a lot more with the "Hero" of the story. The anime has so many places it could have went, but never seemed to take it there. I have high hopes for a season 2!! Would I recommend this anime? YES!!! If you can make it to the end, I will find you will be waiting for a season 2 yourself =)

    It Had Alot of Potential.
It's first episode was delightful to watch, between the wonderful interactions between The Demon King and Hero and the interesting mix of economics and its effects on war. After that first episode though, everything felt like it was on fast forward and felt like things were just made up as it went along. Characters were hardly developed at all and only one character (The elder of the 2 sisters) ...

Really similar to spice and wolf
    5/5
This anime is really similar to spice and wolf considering the pace and style of the anime. If you liked spice and wolf then you'll most definitely also like this one.
The story may be a bit too slow-paced and sometimes it has weird logic (specifically potato), but it's definitely one of the best animes in this lineup.

A Satisfying Anime with a Spice and Wolf Vibe
After watching Spice and Wolf a year ago and thoroughly enjoying it, Maoyu is the perfect anime to fill any "void" left behind. This series is witty, political, economical, humorous, romantic, and contains a relationship with the main protagonists very similar to that of Holo and Lawrence. There is a fair amount of action, violence, and blood but that's not the main focus of the show. In fact, it ...

Decent show. Not upset I watched.
The show was not so bad. I enjoyed it for the most part. The only thing I disliked is the sudden stop. There was much more story foreshadowed, and the anime just...ended. Otherwise, it was entertaining.
