    Refreshing, A New Favorite
Lately I've been wanting to watch an anime doesn't center around juvenile angst, nihilistic violence, or pious righteousness and I found it in Maoyu.

Well paced and beautifully thought out with characters whose personalities left an endearing and indelible impression as they matured and grew into wonderful people.

A story imbued with the spirit of Courage, Love, Wisdom, Peace, and ...

A Satisfying Anime with a Spice and Wolf Vibe
After watching Spice and Wolf a year ago and thoroughly enjoying it, Maoyu is the perfect anime to fill any "void" left behind. This series is witty, political, economical, humorous, romantic, and contains a relationship with the main protagonists very similar to that of Holo and Lawrence. There is a fair amount of action, violence, and blood but that's not the main focus of the show. In fact, it ...

    excellent series, really different
I really liked the way this developed it's a pretty smart series which teaches you how some goverments think and how the world should be. It's pretty impressive also how super powerful characters can be so human for saying the least.

This is a must watch, maybe it needs a bit more comedy like it was at first chapters.

  • An amazing short anime.
This anime really blew me away, it's reminiscent of spice and wolf, which I know a lot of people are saying but I feel the need to repeat it. The show makes it it's own though. What we lack in a backs story of most characters and time in this anime it more than makes up for in it's motivational vibe. Just every episode of this anime seems to scream "Keep pushing forward." For the sake of a ...

  • Awesome series! I wish there was more.
I don't write reviews too much, but I really wanted to write one about this series.
It was nice and very intriguing. I love the development of all the characters, and really enjoyed the romantic comedy part of the story.

It had action, but also a plot and a story line. If you decide to watch this anime, you will not be disappointed.

I give it 5 stars. I wish there was more, but they played ...

One of my all time favorite anime's
Maoyuu Maou Yuusha, it's been too long since iv'e sat down and reviewed this anime, In all honesty this tends to happen simply because animes like this can carry themselves quite well, and in the end has me feeling like iv'e found something I can remember, forever embedded in my mind as a genuine piece of unforgettable storytelling.

I love the intellectual animes, they drive a story much ...

Excellent Anime! wish there were another season but...
Like others have said, this anime takes on an interesting spin battling war with economic prowess. Time is scaled out fairly heavy so an episode might cover a week or 3 months at a time.
The main characters, the mao (Demon King) and yusha (Hero) [mao|yu] spin a web of small developments that encourage others to make their own. It ties these together in a great way and was wonderfully interesting ...

  • A Fantastic and Unorthodox Fantasy Tale
It's not everyday you come across an anime dealing with agricultural technological innovation, medieval socioeconomics & political theory, and religious discord & schisms...with a dash of comedy, action, and romance. Has a very strong "stage play" feel, with all of the characters going by title rather than name, which is a nice touch.

Think Spice and Wolf with a broader focus beyond trading ...

  • A very good anime with many different aspects.
I thought, that this anime show was very good. It has many different elements in the plot with some romance, comedy, action, fantasy and some intriguing plot twists along the way. The anime takes a different approach to the fantasy genre then many other animations, because it also focuses on the people's role in a war and so on.
