Eh my thought about this anime.....
i remembered how this anime was on the top of the list, but now its some where in the middle. i watched the first episode and i honestly thought this wasn't a bad anime however, its super slow. the plot was kind of interesting a first, but then it down felled really hard when we figured out this wasn't a hack and slash anime, but instead its a anime about creating a "civilization".(or something ...

    Okay, could have been better
It could have been better in my opinion. It started out strong but then along the way it was getting too technical and the story would suddenly jump without a smooth transition. The ending wasn't that great but fine. Some of the relationships of the characters left you wondering if they were going to be together or something, those were small plot holes in the story.

    Appealing to all sorts
Maoyu is a great anime!! Why only the 3 starts then, I feel as if they could have done a lot more with the "Hero" of the story. The anime has so many places it could have went, but never seemed to take it there. I have high hopes for a season 2!! Would I recommend this anime? YES!!! If you can make it to the end, I will find you will be waiting for a season 2 yourself =)

Medieval History Through A Fantasy Lens
The creators of Spice & Wolf pull another fun switcharoo by setting up what appears to be a love story between a Hero and his supposed enemy ... and delivering not only that, but also a high-minded lesson on history and economics, all dressed up in fantasy clothes. Half the fun of this show, for me, is looking at the plot to see what all it is saying about the medieval world, but this does ...

    Wickedly Addictive ;D
To start, I love how the love story goes. Instead of having to wait a dull 5 episodes for the characters to fall in love you get two who already promise themselves to each other through a contract ( > w <) Leading on with a blend of historic and modern into the story and a few laughs, suspense and love triangles and WHAM you get Maoyu!! :D

The art is just perfect!! (I liked it a lot) The ...

  • Rushed. But Amazing!
This anime has a very, very quick pacing to it. So much so that it has a constant 'rushed' feel...but at the same time it seems to fit the anime just fine. The only REAL issue I have with it (As the rushed feeling was just a very minor one) is that the ending was absolutely horrible...even if it did set up this Anime for a Second Season.

Also, ignore your first impressions of this anime! If ...

Smart and gorgeous to look at.
Though it is not heavy with action it more than makes up for it with its brilliantly intelligent story. the characters are unique and you'll quickly fall in love with all of them. In addition to this the audio and visuals for this show are astonishing, the OP is beautiful and it is clear that the animators put their all into bringing the story to life. This show is hands down worth watching with ...

  • Enjoyable anime but needs more
Maoyu Mao Yuusha is a pretty decent anime. I have not seen many anime where they do not use any real names, just honorifics. There was some originality in the anime but I felt that it was too quick. The anime had a lot of potential to become great but with only 12 episodes they couldn't expand too much. Overall I probably wouldn't watch a second time unless they came out with a second season but ...

Blurring the line between anime and historical drama
Anyone who has ever played a hero adventure game comes into this with some expectation that they know what they will find. But those things that we expect to find familiar and comforting are out on the peripheries. If you're old enough to be watching this, then you've probably learned the basics about feudal Europe, and so instead of settling into your vast knowledge of anime dynamics and game ...
