Ito's plan to take over the Shinsengumi has left its members completely divided. Kondo is forced into a difficult position with Okita as his only ally. In the final act of his take over plan, Ito begins devising plots to assassinate Kondo. Okita decides to defend Kondo who is trapped in a train full of enemies. Gintoki and the others arrive in time to help, but Hijikata is still cursed!
