Mobile Suit Gundam Wing

This is the anime that took me from girl who watched cartoons that occasionally including anime (though I didn't know it then) to girl who lives for anime. I know a portion of my love for this anime is nostalgia but I truly loved it. I adore Duo Maxwell, he's been the background on my computer for who knows how long. I didn't watch it on TV I picked it up at Suncoast after seeing a commercial for it so I can't speak about the differences there. I enjoyed the story it had its up and downs like most animes but I felt driven to watch it. I liked the range of characters I felt there was a little for everyone there. I also loved the art, it was the first series I found myself buying artbooks and posters and t-shirts for, it's currently the only series I own cels from.
This series introduced me to Gundam and was the first real giant robot anime series for me and if it hadn't been for GW I don't know that I would pick up a mecha series, I watched transformers on and off and I love Escaflowne but GW was really the one that made me see mecha as something I needed to watch.
It also got me in to gunpla, and the feeling I get from my own experiences and from talking to others everyone into gunpla wants to build that PG Gundam Wing Zero, you see that and you're just like I need that on my shelf and we wouldn't have that with GW.
I have a lot of rules for anime conventions about what to do and what to buy but my number one rule is never walk away from Gundam Wing, even if it means breaking every other rule I have I never walk away from Gundam Wing.

Gundam Wing is a pretty decent anime. It has a pretty good storyline, a good diverse cast of character personalities, and having some good music to go along with it. The only draw back of the show is it's Animation...specifically in regards to combat. The makers got very lazy when it came to combat animations in which the show recycles combat animations throughout it...while only adding one or two little variants to 'make it different'. Scenes with Heavy Arms are likely the most notorious for recycled animations...granted there's not really much a Ranged Focused Gundam can do aside from shooting, shooting, and more shooting...but...they didn't have to play the same animation over and over and over. Not even the original gundam series was that bad...

Gundam Wing will always have a place in my heart as the Gundam series that got me started on Gundam in the first place but I was honestly more impressed with Mobile Suit Gundam 0079 when I say it despite Gundam Wing being made in the 90's and Gundam UC0079 being made in 1979.

Over all, I'd have to say Gundam Wing get's a solid 3/5. It's a Good Gundam Series but it's not the best...though Fanboys will argue otherwise. (Meant to put Storyline at 4/5 Stars *cries*)

Gundam Wing was one of the very first animes I ever had the pleasure to watch. I thoroughly enjoyed it and found the series totally satisfying. As a veteran (4 year USMC) I can completely understand the psychological changes the heroes go through. The very act of taking another life takes a toll upon you and it does upon the heroes.

While there are newer animes with newer graphic design and better animation, they still pale in comparison to this masterpiece of art.

Easily one of the best anime series out there...This is the best installment of the overall series.The animation,storyline,characters all come together to make a true "space opera".The drama and sacrifice shown in each episode touches everybody in different ways and that is the way it should be.Also,there is no clear-cut "bad guy"-you think you have one figured out and the story throws you a curveball.I wish more series were like this one.

I first saw this anime on Cartoon Network's Toonami 1999/2000. This is the series that truly started me on my path to anime obsession. I have seen this in it's various forms of dubbed, subtitled, censored, and uncensored and no matter how it was portrayed it has always delivered a fabulous story. Most Gundam series emphasize on the battles between individual Gundams and character issues. This series spans much further than that, encompassing ever-changing political schemes, plots, anarchy, revolution, and of course an epic war between those of earth and the people of the colonies. I can truly say this is one of the few animes that you can't walk into the middle of and truly appreciate the plot, because it is never on a continuous path. When I say ever-changing I truly mean it. There is never one "true enemy" for either side. Factions and objectives change as wars and internal struggles rage on. The main characters have multitudes of depth to their personalities. Their reasons behind fighting as gundam pilots, soldiers, or standing as "peace keepers" always has tremendous depth of reasoning and volition. Over the course of it's 49 episodes these characters grow into amazing and highly influential people who command the course of the plot vs being dictated by it. Since first being introduced to anime and watching up somewhere and past fifty different series I have only found one series that has even come close to the depth, intrigue, and twisting plot that Gundam Wing has...it may have even surpassed Gundam Wing in that respect and that anime is Code Geass. I have given this series 5 stars on all accounts...which is rare for me to do. As I have mentioned the storyline and character development is phenomenal. The music is rapturing; my first initial kindling of Japanese sound scores for anime and Japanese Pop were struck by this series' amazing score. Years later I still find myself listening to the tracks in this series like Rhythm Emotion and Just Communication as well as songs from their OST and audio stories. I have also given this series 5 stars for animation because I am taking into consideration when this series was produced. For 1995 the graphical design of this series is fantastic and I still use the intricate detail of its design as a "standard" for when I watch animes that are produced today; which might explain why I've never taken a liking to the "moe" style. Overall this is a fantastic and literally unforgettable series. If you have yet to watch it I highly encourage you do do so. You will forever be touched by this amazing story and it's unforgettable characters.

My start with Gundam Wing came in the form of the dubbed version on Cartoon Network. I've since re-watched it in its full glory with subtitles, as is my general preference. Gundam Wing offers some first rate action with compelling characters involved in an intricate plot, where everything is connected and seems to set things up perfectly for what comes next. The great introductory theme music helps get you geared up and ready for action. The Animation looks good, though there is some recycling done. Also, there are a couple of slow/flashback type episodes, but I don't feel these small drawbacks do much to hurt the series. My advice is that you sit back, watch, and enjoy.
