Mobile Suit Gundam Wing

In the storyline, it shows how many young people who are out in war fighting to gain something. No matter where or what kind of war, the battle fought will be the same. A war used to say to "Protect" what they believe to be justice. Once in war, they find that the thing they are "Protecting" become absurd. Their minds become lost, confused, in what to fight for. Is their Justice really the Justice after all? As they battle out with themselves, they soon realize the justice isn't theirs, but the people whom they encounter with and see that their justice is how they view as a whole. Also they should not force others on their views. With that, peace can be attained. Peace within their hearts.

My roots with this show trace back to when it was on Cartoon Network, where I watched the English dub. I remember being confused when I watched it, not being able to figure out who the "bad guys" and "good guys" were. This was one of my first exposures to anime and the plot twists and subtleties of the show were something new for me compared to the formulaic sugar-coated goodness of Sailor Moon (also on Toonami) or the similarly predictable screaming matches of DBZ.

What really drew me to the show were the characters. 5 boys, each with a different giant robot. Occasionally they worked together but they were definitely there for different reasons. Even Relena, the most despised character within the fandom caught my attention as she changed from a passive oujo-sama (rich girl) to woman in power. No matter what your taste, you're sure to find someone to like in this series. Mysterious masked man? Check. Stoic rebel? Check. Military leader? Check. Compassionate pacifist? Check.

There's a good balance of military strategy, plain ol' mecha action, and emotional drama in this show which I believe is only surpassed by the OVA (Endless Waltz). I would rate the music as just decent; I especially enjoyed TWO-MIX's contributions. The animation quality was fairly normal for its time. I could see clearly when certain frames were looped in battle, but nothing was distractingly bad.

As a legacy, I sometimes think that GW is remembered more for what its fans have done with it than the show it really was. Although I am not a fan of unnecessary character pairings, I willingly sit through GW panels at conventions and endure the squeals of other fan girls as they espouse their mathematical equations just because I respect the show. To this day I probably own more merchandise of this series than any other in my 10 year fandom. Whenever I hear of a new Gundam coming out, I'll watch the trailer, but in the back of my mind I sigh and say "But it's just not Gundam Wing".

I don't remember if this is truly my first anime series. That said its the one I definitely remember, and the first exposure I had to the Gundam universes. Of the various Gundam series I have seen, this is still my all time favorite. I was pleased to see it here on CR. I first watched this on Cartoon Network, and it was the first series I bought on DVD. In fact I had to buy a DVD player to go along with the DVD's!

I truly enjoy this series. Watching it here on CR is probably 4th or 5th time through the series. There is a nice balance of storyline and battle scenes. I especially like the continual plot twist concerning who the bad guys actually are. I think that constant uncertainty of who is right and wrong is perhaps a social commentary that still applies today. The constant change in the series is a good reflection of how chaotic war seems to be. There was some descent writing involved in this series. There is a lot of character development between the first and last episodes. The dynamic amongst the Gundam pilots themselves is definitely an integral part of the story line, and I believe it was well executed. Of course the strange love story between Heero and Relena must be mentioned as well.

This series was also my first exposure to J-pop! I fell in love with Two-Mix's music, I still listen to it. I've recommended this series to my friends and now I recommend it to anyone who reads this review.

I remember Gundam wing from back in the days of middle school, rushing home to catch toonami with other classic shows such as DBZ and DB and other gundam favorites. back when tom was not some guy from myspace, but a robotic icon who saved my boring days of nothingness to awesomeness. Gundam wing Breaks follows the classic gundam style, evil guy in mask who inst all that evil, hero who is either born into his war life or forced into it. Music was not something for me and it was easily forgotten, and the animation level was before its time. long live the federation ^^ but my favorite model will always be the Zaku 1!

Doesn't matter that it is already 15 years since this anime was made, or even that the kind of drawing is considered old nowadays, or that it doesn't have a frame of computer graphics.
There are some animes that are forever. You start watching and it brings you all the emotion and excitation that it'd brought all watchers in that time.
Gundam Wing is this kind of anime where you can watch it in form of a marathon and still be sad that you didn't have time to watch all in one day.
The storyline is made in a way that between one chapter and the other you have a cliffhanger that will make you want for more. The music is great and even keeping the same song from other Gundam it still not boring. The characters are well built with profound difficult feelings, making the storyline not only full of fights and explosions. The animation although 15 years old is extremely well made and up to date (even without the so used nowadays CG).
In summary watching the 49 episodes will make you addicted to Gundam and watch them all...

Here is a short review on the Mobile Suit Wing series. Even if this show dates back a decade ago, one cannot forget that it is one of the greatest Gundam series created. The overall storyline is unique but being more of a modern person I am, I would definitely have prefered different character hairstyles. On the other hand, this was a show that was created over a decade ago, so the animation and characters would seem slightly "dusty". The soundtrack throughout the series are classics in its own respect and engages the viewer to be enthrawed into the show. The storyline is as great as the other Gundam shows, and you could say probably the best.

This isn't the first Gundam show I have watched. I've been trying to watch all the Gundam series and it has been a problem finding them all. I was happy to see several of the series here on Crunchyroll that I hadn't been able to find anywhere else. I started watching this one when I saw that Mobile Gundam was going to be deleted on June 1st. So far this has been a very good Gundam, I like the Characters and the story line is interesting. The main Gundam Pilots in this one seem more intense and mission driven then some of the other shows and really I like that intensity. All the pilots have very interesting personalities and they blend well together. I'm glad that Crunchyroll put this series up. Now off to watch the rest of these and then catch the others before they are taken down.

While this isn't my favorite Gundam series, it is the series that started the mecha craze for me. I wouldn't care much about shows like Code Geas, or Eureka 7, if it wasn't for this awesome anime. This shows brings back so many memories of Saturday nights watching toonami and other animes. Rewatching it now, I'm not phased by it's dated art and animation. It is a true masterpiece that transcends time. The characters, politics, and storyline are all captivating and memorable. Everyone remotely interested in mecha anime should watch Gundam Wing because of the intense relationships and politics in this series.
