To start things off, if you're expecting a long, well-described review of the story, I would suggest find another review. I don't have the longest attention-span to type out things like these, but I just want to talk about this anime for a bit.

I used to be largely into anime. I watched a bunch of series and spent a good two years at one point in my life just watching and talking about anime. Unfortunately, I grew out of that stage at one point and haven't really taken the time to watch any anime in general. What made me come back? I watched a guy play
osu! unranked and saw him play a lot of the opening songs to some anime that I saw in the past. As I'm typing this, I'm recovering from surgery that I had about six days ago, so I remembered this website, which I used to watch my anime on, and decided I would try to finish a thirteen episode series.
When I first saw the title of
Myself; Yourself, I remember back in the days when I was browsing this website as this anime was periodically coming out with episodes. It looked interesting at first, but I wasn't entirely down to take a watch from it. Three years later, I decide to myself, "Why not?". The story was actually very interesting and something that I've wanted to watch for some time now. In a nutshell, without trying to spoil too much, the story takes place in a fictional town called
Sakuranomori, located in Japan. Sana Hidaka, the main character if you will, at age 11, had to leave due to family based reasonings, which led to his friends to throw a farewell party for Sana, with each giving him a present that he would end up remembering, either mentally or physically.
He comes back five years later at the age of 16 to see that not much has changed with his hometown. As he wanders, he remembers certain areas where he had played with his friends as a child, festivities he went to, etc. As expected, he also reunites with his childhood friends, seeing that there are some things that have changed about them.

If you honestly care about in which order they came in on terms of Sana reuniting with his friends, he sees Nanaka first (wrote the song), but it seems that she is too shy to greet him formally. He then moves over to the apartment, in which he would stay at throughout the series, who then meets Aoi (baked the cake). Sana then goes to his first day of school and finds his homeroom class, 2-F, in which he finds Shu (fishing bait) and Shuri (gloves). You can say that Sana "meets" Nanaka in the classroom when she slaps him, but I'll always believe in him seeing her at the shrine as their "reunion".
I don't want to type for too much longer, but the main reason why I found this anime so good was the fact of how great and engaging the story is. When I took breaks from the series, I kept talking to myself on what was going to happen or why certain characters did the things they did on a certain event. For example,

why Sana kept getting sick everytime he saw blood on a knife. (My guess was wrong :c ).
Nonetheless, I've never gotten engaged like that in an anime before. It just feels like this story was done right and had some insane plot twists and events that I wouldn't have expected to happen. I really, really want to see a second season created, or at least some kind of spinoff to
Myself; Yourself. The characters were very lively, the atmosphere was great, the story was beautiful, and it was just an all-around great anime. If you have time one day like I do to spend some time watching
Myself; Yourself, by all means do it. You won't regret it.
