Sorry but, he didn't even need to go to another body, because thats why the went after the 5th, she could heal his arms, so unless she could make repair souls it would have been useless. Also he just over uses the bodys and they brake down.
Xemnas is right how ever in saying by going into a new body he will regain the use of his arms but it's only momentary he needs a strong enough body to maintain the use of his arms.
The only way for him to get his soul back was if it were like naruto placed in another person, then he could simply release the seal and his soul would return, yet in this instance the third sealed in him and died.
Granted it's a good theory, the fact is the Sealing jutsu used sealed off not just his spirit the flow of any type to chakra to his arms. tsunade could have never healed him it was a bluff.
Xemnas your wrong, which most wouldn't know if they hadn't seen Shippuden, When Orochimaru takes a new body he consumes the soul he doesn't merge with it, it's lost for ever.
In closing. What sandaime sealed was a culmination of all the spirits that orochimaru had previously taken over as long as his own. This in no way signifies he cannot regain his arms by taking another soul.
This is the reason he wishes to train sasuke before he takes him over. So in a sense he rejuvinates he soul by taking another persons soul. In theory by obtaining a new soul he will undoubtedly regain the use of his arms.
After taking over the persons body, his spirit merges with the spirit of the person he took over. Hence he gains the physical properties of not only that persons body, but also his spirit.
The reason why he regained the use of his arms is actually really simple, especially if you read the manga. Orochimaru's reanimation jutsu simply takes over a persons body by pouring his soul into another persons body.
It didn't get his entire soul, so based on the concept that his soul could regenerate itself over time once it left the body it was in that had the curse. But it was one of Kishi's weak points.
yeah it doesn't make much sense considering later on in the manga it is stated that souls who have been sealed by the death god seal cannot be brought back....so if his arms were sealed away then he shouldnt be able to use em no matter wat
If it was possible for Tsunade to "heal" Orochimaru's arms then restoring them with his forbidden immortality jutsu seems feasible. As for the Hokage's sacrifice, it saved the leaf from annihilation. Orochimaru's summons couldn't be killed.
@cheerwine87 It's still not pointless because he forced him to reanimate sooner than he wanted to, and now Orochimaru can't take Sasuke right away. As for your other point about taking the soul...you can rationalize it, you have a point.
I don't understand! If Orochimaru gets his arms back after ever reanimation what the heck was the point of the Hokage's sacrifice. The whole point of that ability is to take the soul. His arms should stay dead... now it's pointless
