  • Shinobu is just hnnng
So, character count is the devil. Sometimes you don't need 250 characters to fully appreciate a certain show. Maybe, I'll just copy/paste this same review in each and every sequel of Bakemonogatari. Don't worry, I left a whole-hearted review for Bakemonogatari, yes. But no, I do not see a need to do so for Nisemonogatari, which, if you are watching at this point, there is likely no need to explain ...

  • Being a sequel Nisemonogatari is better than expected
Nisemonotagari is the sequel to Bakemonotagari. The focus has shifted from the five "girl-friends" to the main guy, Koyomi Araragi's own sisters. Lots of ecchi scenes here and there, which people call them fan service. Those scenes are not just plain and blatant fan service, though. They really do add to the intensity of the dialogues, and are integral parts of the show. In the end, they are ...

Same as Bakemonogatari but Worse in Every Way
The characters and story have no meaning. A character can say one thing and do the opposite the next. The show also tries way too hard to be cool. The speeches try to sound meaningful and cool but end up making zero sense and not progress the characters. The apparitions don't have much meaning. They seem so random and are not tied to the characters well. This show is very superficial and not very ...

  • Masterpiece Shinobu best GIrl
Everything about Monogatari is brilliant in every way. Every symbolism, every deconstruction meaning. I will say from having learned Japanese and the culture, a lot of things in it make more sense. It's an anime that requires a lot of thought, focus and participation. It's worth every moment I've spent watching and re-watching it.

  • Finally found the source for the infamous toothbrush scene
Nisemonogatari is a great followup series. Though this season follows mostly on the sisters of the protagonist it is still very much an enjoyable time. Animation is superb once again and this time I had the benefit of catching this in HD. Overall fantastic show, beautifully animated, fantastic writing, and it's wacky fun when it needs to be.

    absolutely unwatchable.
i guess this would appeal to certain demographics (maybe teenage boys who don't leave their homes? eh ... even as a teenager i had friends like that who wouldn't like this....), but basically it's harem manga with the characters from bakemonogatari hypersexualized beyond recognition. i really enjoyed the "prequel" to this, but this is literally unwatchable. just moving pictures with no plot or ...

I guess I'm not being too hard on anime these days...
So I was 247 characters into this review when i had to stop and go back and re-read my review of Bakemonogatari to confirm the two pretty much said the very same thing. This gave birth to the thought that one really REALLY should watch the first series before watching this one. Not that it's diminished without it, on the contrary; the mark of an anime as brilliant as this is that one ...

    Stop at episode eight, please!
Come on, just don't watch it. That episode pretty much personnifies everything I hate about anime. I love this series, and I love anime, but I just couldn't keep watching after that episode. Just move on, please! Watch nekomonogatari or monogatari second season. GET OUT OF MY HEAD TOOTHBRUSH SCUM!!! *Dies*

  • The Monogatari series is the shit
I never would've thought I would enjoy such a bizarre so this much, and boy do i love it. Humor in VAST ABUNDANCE, and super clever writing!! I can't even remember why I decided the series to begin with, but here I am way past just the first season. I highly recommend this show!

  • Well Paced, Well Written, Well Flubbed
No regrets. I had absolutely no regrets watching this season of the Monogatari series. So well written that you'd think a comedy genius and mystery author were both taking turns on the keyboard while the other went to get a sandwich. So well paced you'd think that they timed themselves on how long they should stay on one subject. The characters are all enjoyable and all grow and mature (well, ...
