No. 6

OK MANY PEOPLE MAY SAY "HEY THIS IS YAOI" but its not. 'Dont get confuse and mix one thing with another watch things closely and you will understand it all' its on of the first principles in philosophy. You cant judge what you dont know. all that i will say is that so sit back relax and enjoy a story that exposes the very cruelties of society and how they are covered with lies.

Know back to thing this show is a most see. No, there are no moe heroines, no harem no distraction, just complete focus on reality at its worst. this story i classify it as "realism" why it doesn't show life's light side rather than its back yes the side we never look, "because we cant handle the truth!!!" lol, but in truth it shows us the side we avert our eyes from because its true cruel.

Even if its for certain and it may sometimes give of a yaoi vibe sometimes (disgust) i still clasify it for now as "bromance" but really think its not yaoi, either way everything will be revealed in the near future. So in the end enjoy, as soon as this series moves on i will make the review even better.. i the mean time enjoy

Only 4 episodes in and I'm already attached to No. 6 enough to buy it; whether it gets a dub or not. It's that enthralling that fast for me.

The eerie feeling that the viewer gets right alongside Sion as he is shown how imperfect No. 6 really is, and just how deep the cover-ups and brainwashing goes is spectacular.

One of the most interesting aspects of the show, however, is the characters themselves. Rat keeps certain questions at the forefront of the viewer's mind - "Is he crazy?" "What or who made him this way?" "Where did he come from?" and "Why does he hate No. 6?" - while Sion is an endearing counterpoint, being kind, gentle and innocent but at the same time not stupid or helpless to the point that one resents him. The subtle undertones of homosexuality also bring a fascinating layer to the series as a whole.

Overall I enjoy this anime the first time I watched it I was a bit confused but then I started to enjoy it. I then understood what it was about but I can't really described it you have to watch to know what I mean!!
The Storyline is to interesting it takes place in the ideal city “NO.6″ in 2013. Shion was judged as having “highest-ranked intelligence” when he was two years old and was allowed to live in the luxurious area “Cronos”.
On his twelfth birthday, he met a beautiful boy called “Nezumi”(Rat) who had escaped from a reformatory. Shion protected him, but the Public Security Bureau deprived Shion of all his privileges and expelled him from Cronos to “Lost Town”.
Four years after the banishment, a mysterious accident leads Shion to the secret of the city NO.6.
The Music is great I love it the ending is by Aimer - Rokutousei no Yoru and the opening is by Lama - Spell!!
The Animation Is amazing I wish more anime's were like this one!!!

Well first off...I will outright state their is not one thing I do not like about this show.....I love it to death!

Minus 1 character but that isn't what this is about....

Overall this is one series I would recommend for anyone. I mean watching Ghost in a Shell here and their kind of put me off the idea of seeing a good dsytopian and post apocolyptic anime series (I'm sorry to those who happen to like Ghost in a Shell....I'm not dissing you or the anime....it just never turned out to be my cup of tea) Yet I found this tiny jewel through a youtube friends upload, I watched it so far, and loved it. I won't lie and say this show isn't like all other dsytopian and post apocalyptic fiction, but it sure puts an interesting spark in it....through romance/kind of relationship between the two main characters.

YES I realize some are put off by the idea of shonen-ai/yaoi, yet I will not deny it gives the series a unique deminsion to it....even if it doesn't happen in the end...The subtle hints here and their through their words and actions give it something no other dsytopian themed work really has (some may have it but not in the way this show has brought in the relationship)...Being a big fan (not fangirl) of shonen-ai/yaoi plus a big supporter of the thought anyone can fall in love, I adore this series all the more.

Not to mention the added quotes of Shakespeare make it all the more better (I adore theatre so yeah I'm biased...sue me haha...I'm pretty sure everyone else here is too haha).

As far as characters go..Sure the character designs are similar to other character out their (i.e. Allen Walker, Yuu Kanda, etc. -which i have nothing against I love both sets of characters)..not to mention they are like typical dsytopian characters where the protagonist (in this case Shion) questions the world he lives in and wants to save it, while the sort of antagonist (in this case sort of Nezumi -'cause who knows he may change his mind the way things are going) wishes to see it destroyed...

However, yet again they bring a new idea into the mix.....That despite how Shion fell from an extremely high social standing/ or caste system he still loves the city and wishes to see it saved and doesn't turn into the antagonist.....This is interesting becuase would it not be human nature to wish to bring harm upon those who've pretty much ruined your life? So it gave another dimension and a selfless side to his character design.....
Aside from that the characters are all interesting in their unique ways and I wish they would finally explain more about Nezumi...Yet thats the show for ya always keeping you on your toes....

Now as far as music goes...I love it....I mean each background musical piece is unique and gives each scene a futuristic feel....the opening and ending are epsecially beautiful....and if one takes the time to look at english translations it might give a further hint to a possible closer relationship between Shion and Nezumi.

Then onto animation....well yet again I'll be biased....I love a lot of BONES animation work (such as Fullmetal Alchemist -both series-, Ouran High School Host Club, Darker than Black, Eureka Seven, Soul Eater, Cowboy Bebop the Movie -where the jointly worked on it w/ Sunrise) so I already have the thought they can't fail in the animation dept....which to me this series didn't disappoint me in that either...

and I'm a stickler for animation as it is...being an aspiring artist/lover of the arts....because anime and manga to me are art pieces just as much as Picasso's work and The Mona Lisa are...so they should at least put forth the effort to make something look good and beautiful...

Bones has a habit of making odd story lines work out wonderfully and No. 6 is no disappointment. This series starts out really slow but it is worth the time. If you are a fan of old fashion works of social fiction (think Dickens, Orwell, Conrad, etc.) or just like a plot line full of subtle hints and allusions leading to a huge reveal, you will love No. 6's story line.

The characters are well developed compared to most series with constant peaks at an ever increasing depth of character.

I am not a real fan of the opening or ending music, I usually skip them. However, several other reviewers seem to be impressed.

As far as the animation goes, there are few series that can compare with the quality. Every little flower and leaf seems to be distinct. The characters have actual facial movements and expressions instead of the usual semi-blank expressions the majority of the time.

I highly recommend this series. It may not be everyone's cup of tea, so to speak, but it is more than worth a try. However, you need to watch the first four episodes before you make a decision. The plot didn't really seem to pick up until then for me. Either way I think you will be impressed with the quality of No. 6.

From the very first episode, this series has kept me in awe and suspense. Every episode brings something new to the table and I have never felt the plot drag on once. I've found myself finding something to love about each character; not to mention the flawless character designs for each one of them. The animation has been a true inspiration for me to say the least. In my opinion, out of all the Bones productions I've seen, animation-wise, this series is my favorite thus far. Finally, after all of that, I get a bit of shounen-ai to top it all off (an extra bonus for me!). I only hope the best for the ending! Can't wait for the finale!
