I WANT MORE PLEASE!!!!

I thought it was just school life and boring by seing Maya's face but I was totally wrong! This serie is better tha Haruhi with just alien, supernatural things. Good sonngs, story and characters. Magic, future history and poltergeist, etc. Quite short. There's also 4 special episodes not on CR unfortunately

Twist and Turns. Occult Review

Super exciting to watch. I loved each episode!
This anime made me smile, cry, and tense up. Full of emotions.
I totally recommend this to anyone! If you like suspense and scary stuff especially.

Very interesting plot

The story takes place after the death of Occult Academy Principle who is also the father of the main character, Maya. Maya hates the occult but has an uncanny knowledge of the Occult but approaches everything from a skeptic side (even when she sees things with her own eyes). She's hell bent on destroying the Academy and takes up the position as the new school's principle to obtain the goal of ridding the world of it once and for all.

A dubious time traveler, named Bunmei, appears before Maya looking for an object called the "Nostradamus key," an artifact which summoned aliens to earth and lead to a post-apocalyptic future. He's the 6th time traveler to attempt to find the key, the other 5 had all perished. To find the key, Bunmei has a cell phone with a camera that allows him to take pictures in 1999 and see what objects (and people) look like in 2012.

Bunmei is often distracted by the alluring and somewhat empty-headed waitress of a nearby restaurant. Maya eventually takes his quest into her own hands.

Can they find the key in time?

The plot is fairly rich and I love the fusion of Sci-Fi meets Occult (Magic/monsters/demons). Sadly, the main plot doesn't really advance too quickly until the last few episodes. In the mean time you get the 'day in the life of' of the characters and the drama that occurs beneath them.

I highly recommend this series.

Funny, Good Characters, Lacking in Plot

A fine 13 episode anime, which doesn't take itself too seriously. It's funny and rarely boring, despite the plot not really going anywhere for the entire series. Honestly, it feels a lot like filler pretty much all the way through. We do get a good bit of character development, so it's not all bad but it's still a shame as this series could have been so much more. If you're looking for ...

A fine 13 episode anime, which doesn't take itself too seriously. It's funny and rarely boring, despite the plot not really going anywhere for the entire series. Honestly, it feels a lot like filler pretty much all the way through. We do get a good bit of character development, so it's not all bad but it's still a shame as this series could have been so much more. If you're looking for something short that won't tax your mind too much, this is a pretty good bet.

As the name suggests, the anime is based heavily around the occult: UFOs, mothmen and dowsing for example. If you happen to be a fan of the occult, this series was made for you. If, like me, you're mostly indifferent to it, it might start to grate on you after a while. Or you might learn something. And if you hate the occult, don't worry: so does the main character, Maya. Or at least, she hates it at first...

The best aspect of this series, without doubt, has got to be the characters. Maya is an excellent protagonist, Bunmei makes for good comic relief and the supporting characters from Smiles the mechanic and his sidekick JK to the lovestruck and slightly suspicious vice-principal are fantastic and really make the show.

All in all, I enjoyed it, a particular highlight being the ghost subplot. Just don't expect too much and you should enjoy it too.

Good anime with a few twists

A solid, original anime with a few interesting twists. A few episodes dragged a bit, but the majority were excellent, and I found myself really liking the characters.

The ending was a bit unexpected, but it wasn't a wall banger or anything.

Awesome, funny anime

An unsympathetic girl took over her father's academy school and suddenly met a stranger from the future who was sent to fix the past (her time) for a prosperous future.
There were scenes that gave me chills, scenes that were sad, and scenes that were funny. All the characters are very enjoyable. The storyline is a catch. This anime surprisingly had a twist in the plot. Breathtaking ending and a ...

I had never heard of this anime previously but going through what was available and reading the synopsis, this one seemed a little off beat yet interesting. I gave it a try and I was glad I did. Difficult to Describe, Awesome Nonetheless

This felt like Fullmetal Alchemist, apart from the fact that it didn't feel like it's story was artificially elongated in areas. Despite the strange pacing and character development, my feelings towards the show as I watched it make such a decision hard to fault, it was too enjoyable to just say, "hey, it didn't do this and it should have done more here", and I feel some other reviews nitpick too ...

For me, i enjoyed it's weird balance, enjoyable characters and overall plot. It changes frequently throughout the series and might have people expecting entirely different things as it moves on, but it makes sense in the end and wraps up nicely. Great expression, great story-telling, and although not the most original, did what it had with enough energy to overlook that aspect. Highly recommended.

Great initial episodes, followed by a season of filler

I'm genuinely annoyed at this anime. I thought I'd found a great new series to watch, and the first three episodes set up an engaging premise. Occult and magic, strong heroine, time travel and Armageddon all in the same show. How could this go wrong?

Incredibly easily, it turns out. All you have to do is spend the first three episodes setting up the characters and the premise, and then toss all any hope of plot progression out the window in favor of goofy, light-hearted, stand-alone episodes where nothing important happens for the next five episodes.

Plus, the male protagonist makes no sense; he should never have been sent on this mission in the first place (no resistance would pick him to save the world) and even if he was, he knew the stakes, why does he spend his time goofing around, trying to get a girlfriend, and generally being useless?

Still, it's the eighth episode that killed it all for me. A side character gets bitten by a monster with foot-long fangs right in the gut and carried off, and the main characters spend half a day gearing up with no real sense of urgency before they go off to rescue her. And of course they find her in perfect health, in the middle of a den full of the monsters who should have devoured her hours ago. None of which has anything to do with the main story whatsoever.

So, with the writers clearly not giving a crap about their own story, characters, or intelligence of the audience, I gave up. This could have been so much more, but instead Occult Academy decides to play it safe and stupid, bringing nothing new or interesting to the table.

To sum up, don't get hooked by the first three episodes, or you will waste hours of your time looking for plot progression that just doesn't exist.
