Occult Academy, first impressions, Episode 1
The story opens at the school commonly known as the Occult Academy in 1999, where the Dean/Principle/Headmaster has just died. He founded the school to help train people in non-standard modes of reality ranging from magic and astrology through telekinesis and UFOs. His daughter, Maya, arrives late for the funeral and in an angry frame of mind. When her father's spirit-inhabited corpse gets out of ...

Scooby-doo on steroids - but where's the dog?
What would the Mystery Machine have looked like if Daphne had been in charge? Now we know -- Occult Academy gives us an homage that goes beyond the original.

You can tell that the animators and writers are aware of the relationship: cowardly Bun-mei is Shaggy, rich, powerful Maya is Daphne, Kozue ("megane") is Velma...Does that mean Ami is Freddie? But Occult Academy shows us the other side of ...

    Not just occult-of-the-week
Occult Academy has an original concept: a man is sent back in time to destroy the mysterious Nostradamus Key to prevent Earth from alien attacks; to do so he becomes a teacher at a high school for studies in the occult.

The early part of the series spends a lot of time developing an occult atmosphere, but the search for the Nostradamus Key doesn't really escalate until the last few episodes. ...

    Great in the begining!
Well starting it was great, the story line seemed plausible and I loved the characters. But near the end it just gets off the logic ban wagon.

  • Impressed to Disappointment
The very first episode draw me in, historical creature, magic, alien, and other occult knowledge that we haven't heard before. However, as time goes by it didn't meet my expectation. The story feel like its taking a small break from time to time, it doesn't really give an impression on making people interested, however; it did have a few things but not enough

The story quickly die at the end, ...

  • A Mild Disappointment
I liked series premise and the main character, Maya, seemed interesting. Sadly the plot advanced too slow for my taste and Bunmei's (seemingly pointless) romance subplot kept getting in the way. It didn't not help that Fumiaki is such a annoying character lacking sympathetic traits other than his back story. Maya does get some nice character development but then show reaches the end. Last three ...

Slow to start, but finishes extremely strong
Occult Academy didn't grab me at first, since most of the first half of its episodes were seemingly unconnected and full of typical tsundere craziness. However, after about 5-6 episodes, the story opened up and it began to focus less on the supernatural aspect of the series and more on the relationship between Maya and Fumiaki. As much as I loved the references to Chupacabra, "Greys" and Time ...

    occult academy stuff
    I really loved this series!!

the music was all right. it went with the anime really well but it could've had a bit more dramatic soundtrack...in my opinion...

the storyline was a bit weak at the beginning. I mean, there was a bunch of occult stuff happening which made me think that the writers were just throwing random stories into it to make the anime a bit longer. good sense of humor, ...

Short but merely perfect in every aspect .
If your not in the mood to wait for an anime to get interesting, dont worry cuz IT PULLS YOU IN FROM THE FIRST EPISODE! One word i would use to describe this anime is just mind-blowingXDD. So this anime reallyy kicks off when a time agent called Fumiaki Uchida ,teleports /warps/ goes back in time to 1999 to save the world from a rather appocyliptic future. In which aliens have invaded the ...
