Being a magical girl has it's price
When you first see the poster and description of this show, your first thought is "Please no more cutesyness and little girls giggling and doing silly little girl things!". After I had read a review of the Anime detailing what happened in Episode 3, I figured I would check it out. It started off interesting, but once I got to episode 3 I was hooked and the rest of the episodes kept getting ...

    First impression is a lie
Before starting this I would like to make it clear that this would be my first review here on CR so I'm not sure how well this turns out. I will try my best to keep this spoiler free, short and bias as possible.

Puella Magi Madoka Magica has been out for roughly over a year now in Japan and was recently licensed by Aniplex USA. It is a short 12 episode Magical Girl series that tells the story ...

  • i'm basically ruined on the inside
In the world of anime, I find it often achingly difficult to stumble upon a show I believe actually worthy of a five-star rating. But when I do, I find something worth treasuring. I thoroughly enjoyed Madoka Magica, and have rewatched it several times since finishing (including the movie, as well). I know this has been said countless times before by numerous other reviewers, but the component of ...

  • Not at all what I was expecting!
As the title suggests, I was not expecting this show to be as dark as it was. The characters were all dynamic and wonderful. It was so easy to fall right into the story, and feel everything as the characters felt it. Each twist and turn is unexpected, and original. I loved this anime, probably my favorite series yet.

  • Amazing Magical Girl Anime
I love animes that start as one genre and then completely blow my mind with their twists. Madoka delivered this in spades. There's a little bit of wasted time while the girls discuss what to wish for, but once that thread is dropped this anime really comes to life. Episode 10 is my favorite because it completely shredded my heart. Definitely recommend!

This show is not as good as they say it is.
I tried to like this show, I made it to episode 3 with the big "oh crap moment". It just didn't do anything for me. I was so annoyed by that moment with the whole magical girl thing and too much cutesy crap that I wasn't sad. I was surprised, shocked a little. However, not sad.

I went into the next episode and made it about 13 minutes in before I just stopped, I wasn't sad at all. These little ...

  • Not What You'd Think
This anime first gives you the impression that it is going to be a traditional magical girls show. But in an early episode, all of that changes and it turns into a much deeper show than most magical girl shows do. It has great pacing and is one of the biggest mind twists ever. The characters are great and by the end you grow to like all of them. All I have left to say is, enjoy!

  • Not At All What You'd Might Expect.
It's difficult to understand simply by episode one how this show becomes nothing short of a masterpiece later on. Hang on there folks because right here you have twists and turns, lessons and despair, heart break and love and just damn. A show that says so much in so brief a run that you won't believe how it ends up still being a complete story. That's right folks! No random hanger, you have a ...

  • Faust meets the Magical Girl Genre
This is one of the most talked-about series around, and for good reason. The art style is absolutely unique, and the colorful sparkles conceal a dark and twisted tale. This is a series with a slow-burn, slowly bringing us into an increasingly cruel world of young girls making mysterious deals with a cute creature.
Nothing is as it seems in this deconstruction of the Magical Girl Genre, and it is ...

it is so sad but so good
this is 10x darker than u ever expect from a magical girl anime which are usually all true love and justice conquer all. it made want to cry a few times especially episode nine.
the darkness and tragedy in this anime blindsides you because t looks just as fluffy as all the other magical girl anime's.
still it is so awesome a must watch
