  • Friendship is suffering
I had plans to watch this with my youngest daughter. Magical girls, she loves that stuff. Cute cloths? Check. Happy faces? Check. A bunch of little girls fighting baddies and saving the world? ... ... ... ...

Wait... What? What is happening?! Why? Why did you do this? ... I'm going to wait til my daughter is older to watch this with her.

Hard plot twists sends this series into a completely ...

    Good Character Development
The art style is unusual and sometimes used to imply events happening to or emotions of the characters. This, in addition to conversations, helps develop the characters. The music style is unusual and fits the images well. This, along with the arts, also contributes to the roundness of the characters.

The last turnarounds are a little surprising. However, the rationale behind the characters' ...

Not your average Magical Girl Anime
This Anime was probably written in response to all those people that never read their damn license agreements.

It draws you in with the cute looks, or maybe because you've heard that it's actually really dark and want to check for yourself after seeing the absolutely moe art.

The first two episodes actually deliver on the cutesy look, though you'll notice that there's already a feeling that ...

  • Magical Girls With A Dark Twist
If you're expecting some cute, Sailor Moon-esque magical girl series, be prepared to have your expectations completely demolished before your eyes. This is one of the saddest, most thought-provoking anime series you may ever watch in your life. The series is basically a deconstruction of the magical girl anime genre, giving the idea a dark twist. Cute young magical girls must fight terrifying ...

Great story, good music, good animation. What's not to love?
What's not to love? Having the characters you love be killed off quite a bit, I guess, is one. ... I was going to try to start off this review to make it sound all cheerful and cutesy and happy, like the anime itself wants you to believe, but I'll be upfront: it gets dark, and depressing. And it's entirely glorious.

Stemming from Akiyuki Shinbo's desire to direct a magical girl anime, Aniplex ...

    Excellent Series Worth Watching!
I never rate series, but this is an exception. This series was awesome and moved along at a great pace. It deals with hope and despair with a very unusual method of animation regarding the witches of the show. It caught me off guard but the twisted animation style really pulls you into the show. definitely worth the watch, I wish there were more episodes!

    An Incredible Experience
This was the show that originally got me into anime, and it really set a high standard for everything else I've been wanting to watch. The story is very compelling and always leaving you wanting for more, the character developer for each character is thoroughly fleshed out, and it has a very balanced amount of action and story progression.

What really lured me into this show initially however ...

Puella Magi Madoka Magica: Cute is Pain.
Puella Magi Madoka Magica, henceforth known as Magica to save space, is a magical girl anime developed by Shaft and Aniplex. A twelve episode series written by Gen Urobuchi, it follows the life of Madoka Kaname and her friend Sayaka Miki as they discover a creature by the name of Kubai. Kubai is a cat like creature, who promises the girls one wish, of any kind, which will be granted to them. In ...

  • Do you still wanna be a magical girl?
This anime was very unique from what I personally usually watch. Most people will get turned off at the idea of a cutesy little girls with magic saving the world. Don't let it scare you off right away though. This anime has a really good story line and it explain mostly everything that you'd want explained. It's an anime that isn't scared to rip your heart out though. It's an anime that isn't ...

    Ripped my heart out.
This series is tragic. Don't let the cute girls on the cover make you think otherwise. To those who've watched the anime and disagree, watch the third movie let your heart get ripped out of your chest.

But don't get me wrong, even if this anime has broken something inside of me, it's still amazing for doing that. It is top-tier work on the part of Digital@Shaft, and one of the reasons I love ...
