  • I Don't Even Know Where to Start
This show is simply amazing. It follows the story of a few high school girls in a fictional city and their journey as magical girls. At first glance, and throughout the first few episodes, the show comes off as another average magical girl story, and the pacing in the beginning is quite slow.

However, around episode 5 or 6, the show suddenly picks up drastically and takes you on a roller ...

  • A well known genre morphed into a beautiful tragedy
We've all seen or heard of the magical girls genre. They follow a constant pattern: The main character becomes a special fighter and aims to defeat evil with her friends and gets a happy ending. However, Madoka Magica puts a twist on this by placing the evil within the protagonists themselves. It becomes something bigger and tragic as the characters develop. This show is incredibly deep and so ...

  • Something that touched my heart greatly
I'm not even sure where to begin. There is so many things I could say about this beautiful series but I'm pretty sure I could keep that all to myself.

I watched this anime for the first time a little more than 2 years ago thanks to the influence of a close friend of mine and man was I in for a spin. The cute style and vibrant colors drew me in because, like many others, I'm ...

  • Fantastic anime. I loved it to bits.
I loved this show. It turned out to be a lot about life in itself, which I guess many animes have in common. What separates this anime from many other ones is its character development, as well as how the creator lures the common anime lover into almost believing it is a cute and lovely anime about cute and lovely things. On one hand I wish there were more episodes, but on the other hand, the ...

  • Straightforward; this anime is a fucking masterpiece
    Explicit Language

Gonna be completely honest. I have watched tons of anime, just like everyone else. I've watched mostly magical girl mainly focusing on sailor moon. If you're looking for a vibe like that, this anime isn't for you. It wasn't so much the graphic content, but the whole world concept of this anime really fucked me up in all honesty. It probably won't and will not be as ...

  • Don't Let It Fool You
    Deception.

That's what's this anime is. It is the mark of pure genius. If you want to watch this for cute giggles, slice of life, romance, click away now. This anime is by far the most deceptively amazing. The marketers made Madoka Magica look like an adorable teen anime, but trust me, you will be so pleasantly surprised.

From the banner, to the intro to the outro.. This anime seems so ...

  • Being a magical girl isn't always sugar and spice.
    TL;DR down below.

I don't usually review or rate shows on Crunchyroll, but boy this anime does it different. I would like to throw out there that I also am not a big fan of magical girl anime...period. A friend recommended this to me since I lean towards dark fantasy. And that's what this is, a dark fantasy.

Not to be confused with classic magical girls like Sailor Moon and it's ilk, Puella ...

  • Bad Ass Interesting Magical Girls?
In short, Puella Magi Madoka Magica is to the magical girl genre what Watchmen was to the super hero genre.

I still occasionally meet anime fans who haven't even heard of Madoka. For those who haven't, this incredible tale was written by Gen Urobochi, the genius storyteller who also brought us Fate/Zero and Psychopass. It looks cutesy at first, but once the story gets going, it's anything but. ...

  • >99% sure this is my favourite anime
A tip-off to expect good things right off the bat is that this show is written by Gen Urobuchi, who also wrote for Fate/Zero and Psycho-Pass, although Madoka Magica came out before those. Gen ventures again into themes of existentialism expertly as he is now known to do while creating multiple characters that develop and at least one of which you'll fall in love with.
To avoid writing a college ...

Don't Expect The Best Anime Of All Time
Many of you have probably heard a lot of great things about this show and for the most part they are true. Madoka Magica is a "Magical Girl" show that breaks the molds of the genre. However my feeling on this show were less than perfect.
The pacing of this show is very slow. So slow in fact that the first few episodes really really dragged for me even having me quit and revisiting this ...
