    Why is this popular?
So I caught the first episode and watched it all the way through. I do not see why this is popular, they only thing that I can see if because it's "cute". However all the cuteness is contrived and obvious so it comes off as fake and trying to hard.

The storyline is boring, the characters are all your usual generic suspects, and the "magical sequences" are shoddily done.

I admit this is the ...

    First impression is a lie
Before starting this I would like to make it clear that this would be my first review here on CR so I'm not sure how well this turns out. I will try my best to keep this spoiler free, short and bias as possible.

Puella Magi Madoka Magica has been out for roughly over a year now in Japan and was recently licensed by Aniplex USA. It is a short 12 episode Magical Girl series that tells the story ...

Being a magical girl has it's price
When you first see the poster and description of this show, your first thought is "Please no more cutesyness and little girls giggling and doing silly little girl things!". After I had read a review of the Anime detailing what happened in Episode 3, I figured I would check it out. It started off interesting, but once I got to episode 3 I was hooked and the rest of the episodes kept getting ...

    Will blow your mind!
Another magical girl anime right? not quite. Slow start, in fact had to give the first episode a second chance because just seemed so typical. Until it really turned into something else. Think, cardcaptor meets count of monte cristo and paprika. Beautifully animated, really cute magical girls, and a gripping story. If you liked tweeny witches or any other magical girl series you'll like this.

    Mind blowing and great.
To those of you who watched the first episode and thought "Oh, well this is just a typical magic girl cutesy type of thing." You are all too wrong. The storyline for this is amazing, it gets dark fast and I'm not allowed to explain how. You just have to give it a chance. Like everyone here says, watch until episode 3, you'll be begging for more. I know I was.

So yes, overall 5/5, there' a few ...

This is one of my favorite animes of all time!
Its hard to review this anime without giving away the shocking parts of it, but I will say this; Once you watch episode 3, you will realize this is no ordinary magical girl series. The first few episodes, the OP and even the commercials all make this show out to be the typical, overly cute magical girl thing, but it isn't. All I wanted when I started watching this was a sweet, fun anime for little ...

The roadway to hell is paved with the cobblestones of good intentions.
The very beginning starts off with one of my favorite gimmicks from two of my favorite movies, "Head"(1968) and "Apocalypse Now"(1979),
    . . . I'll leave you to your own inferences . . .
This show begins with the usual frilly, magical girls stuff.
A cute/kawaii little familiar that needs help to save people from the catalysts of despair . . .
    Witches.
All they have to do is make a contract ...

    Amazing magical girl anime ;O
I always thought this anime would be like all the other anime with
cute girls rescuing the day and defeating the evil boss at the end.
Puella Magi Madoka Magica is not something like that!!!

I don't want to ruin this anime, so WATCH IT!!!
I almost cried at the end!
Don't treat this anime like Pretty Cure or
    Magical Doremi.

    A brilliant deconstruction
Puella Magi Madoka Magica is one of the real gems from last year's anime, and stands on its own as a true classic. The art direction is phenomenal, gorgeous backgrounds and inspiring architecture set the mood of an idyllic world, while disturbingly psychedelic interludes reveal the darker truths that lie beneath. The story is outstanding, deconstructing the often absurdly optimistic magical girl ...
