I cannot understand why you would even think of watching this even if you like ecchi.

Apart from nice character designs and OK animation this series basically has nothing going for it. I find most shows that are focused solely on fan service very annoying but there have been some trashy shows that I have enjoyed because they were trashy fun. Rio - Rainbow Gate however is in no way, shape, or form fun.

Rio - Rainbow Gate however is in no way, shape, or form fun.

Why do you ask? Even if you're a lover of fan service oriented shows you could do way better. Rio - Rainbow Gate essentially has no plot and the little plot that it does have makes no sense. Rio apparently lives in a completely ridculous world where underaged kids can go in casinos, where people that bring you luck whilst gambling in a casion are an asset to the casion (in which universe is it good to lose money?), where your boss is a perverted freak who no one sues for harrassment (slightly believable in a show like this) and where when you play a game of cards a weird magical selection sequence happens even though you're just playing poker or something. Also the idea of trying to become the best dealer is absurd.
There are plenty of ecchi shows out there for you panty loving folk that aren't insanely boring to watch. There are several better options this season that may be trash but at least they have a plot that isn't going to bore you completely to death and a plot that makes more sense. If you watch this show and enjoy it then you're crazy because even frame after frame of close ups of Rio breasts couldn't possibly perk up this pile of junk.

Rio Rollins Tachibana is the mascot of video game producing company Tecmo's Super Black Jack series of pachinko games who also had a guest appearance in one of the Dead or Alive series' beach volleyball spin offs.

The series is set at the Howard Resort, where Rio works as both a dealer the the resort's casino an an entertainer, and is hailed by all as the Goddess of Victory (seriously, no joke). Whenever Rio enters the resort's casino, the luck of the gamblers increases and they basicly end up winning big. While working, Rio befriends a young girl named Mint Clark, whos grandfather is visiting the resort. Rio is also a special dealer know as a "Gate Holder", as she holds one of thirteen special cards simply known as "Gates". Whoever gains all thirteen of these cards becomes the "Most Valuble Casino Dealer". Good grief!

Frankly, there's literally nothing to recommend this anime by. Sure it looks good animation and art wise and there's lashings of fanservice (including an obligatory beach episode), but the lack of plot added with uninteresting characters, failed attempts at humor and various nonsensical elements just doesn't sell it at all. I'm amazed that it's been given 369 five star ratings on Crunchyroll (seriously, check the rating count).

All in all, Rio: Rainbow Gate is just a boring series with lots of fanservice and absolutely no plot. It's really best to give it a miss.

Delightfully Optimistic!

This story pits a sweet young lady who has a special ability coupled with her talents as a hostess and dealer against characters who strive to stack the odds against her. Despite the underhanded and egotistical foes she must fight, as well as a misogynistic employer, she keeps her cool, charm, and genuine naivete that lends to her success.
Well animated, and full of interesting plot-twists and ...

This story pits a sweet young lady who has a special ability coupled with her talents as a hostess and dealer against characters who strive to stack the odds against her. Despite the underhanded and egotistical foes she must fight, as well as a misogynistic employer, she keeps her cool, charm, and genuine naivete that lends to her success.
Well animated, and full of interesting plot-twists and powers of probability, Rio - Rainbow Gate is a winning hand!

How do you give zero stars?

The title of this should have just been "no." but for some reason it required more characters in the title. Why is there a minimum character limit for review titles? Seems ultimately pointless. All you need is the word "no."

Started watching this, couldn't get through the first episode. What is this? All I want is some attractive women with a story that makes me laugh or is cool. Why is that so hard? It looks like a show that was financed by the gambling industry to glorify casinos. And by that I mean it ridiculously glorifies gambling. (oh yay, lets make a sad addiction look exciting using sex as the bait. vomit. My ethics bone is hurting.) And has zero artistic soul to it. If you want some sensuality you'd do better to beat off to some breasts you make by flinging cooked spaghetti onto the kitchen wall. The story is both ridiculous and boring.

The stuffed bear the little girl carries around is perhaps the most fitting mascot for this show because it's stupid, vacant, disturbing stare mirrors the heart, or lack there off, of this series. Perhaps it picks up later on, but if I watched another minute of this I would curse myself for wasting the precious and limited time have on this earth on an activity so irredeemably worthless. Warning others away and entertaining myself with a flippant though accurate review has been an infinitely better use of my time.

Ever been to a casino?

Because apparently the writers of this anime haven't. To be honest, I'm not sure they even go outside, judging by what they imagine a "casino resort" is. I made it past the first episode, but that's about it; I have no interesting in watching further. If the writers can't even pretend to create a believable setting, I can't see how things can possibly improve.

Avoid this "show" at all costs!

Sat through the whole series when it premiered. Nothing but a bunch of mindless fanservice. Rio's mostly T&A but at least she has more going for her than the other characters. The klutzy girl? There were so many moments where I honestly hoped the animators would kill her off and get it over with. Such a lame character has no place in any work of fiction! And the stuff that the main girls go ...

In the end, Rio is nothing more than 13 episodes of ecchi crap. Stay away from this non-show--go watch something meatier like Un-Go, Guilty Crown, House of Five Leaves, or Bodacious Space Pirates instead. Don't even waste your time with this awful, awful, show. In fact, Xebec needs to apologize for ever foisting this abortion upon an unsuspecting public!

The best part about Rio did win her casino business and her friends will lost again. but why her sister end up to fight Rio to get all her rainbow gate cards too. l guess her job was to get back on her job.

The anime was really entertaining. It had many twists to the story. It kept the viewer wanting more. It had it's hidden morals. It is abslotely one of the best anime ever made. it was great.

It was hot. it was sexy. great for the people who love perverted anime.

Well, this is sort of madness. Ecchi anime for gambling? Sounds funny, huh? But it really is. This anime, by itself, become fanservice-enriched. Based from Tecmo's "Super Blackjack" and "Dead Or Alive Paradise", this anime successfully grabbed my attention. Either by Rio Rollins (which is extremely a hottie) or by gambling which requires statistical approach to watch.

FYI, I watched this anime and read "Mathematics of Games and Gambling" by E. Packel. Then I competed in Java-Bali Statistic Competition, thanks to these hottie and that book, I can survive to semi-finals.

Other things that puts me on interest are hi-tech robot (Linda), flying casino (Sky Resort), and family intrigue. Not to mention a stupid and poor-luck police agent (Carlos Tanaka)
