Fair warning: this is a pretty awesome anime... however season 2 ends somewhat close to the middle of where the story is in the manga. Season 3 was cancelled, so you'll need to read the manga to see where the story goes and how it ends.

I never really understood what a bad guy gains by destroying the world. And what would they do after making it a world of "death and darkness"? I mean, that's pretty much the end of it. They still won't gain anything for it.

People, this anime's setting is 243 years BEFORE the original Saint Seiya, it is a spin off, if you want to know what happened after the Hades Arc read Saint Seiya Next Dimension which is the introduction to the Zeus Arc...
