School Days

Before I say anything else...
I REALLY LOVED IT

Before you watch it PREPARE YOURSELF for laughing and a whole lot of gasping and crying.
Required: A few boxes of tissues (for crying your eyes out), Pillow (Same as previous),
Optional: Facial reconstruction assistant (between crying and smiling with all the good stuff... your face will be kinda warped, hehe, kidding, plus you might throw up at the end)

Even if you are only in the first few episodes you REALLY get the sense of the plot, but the constant changes in circumstances will keep you guessing. It's a nice storyline with the (spoiler?) friend?/lover? thing going between Kotonoha and Sekai, all of which starts off from simple conversation on either the rooftop of at the classroom.

I don't want to spoil this great anime, so all I can say is:
I hope you will enjoy it as much as I did, but now that I've seen the ending....
I suggest:
- If you want a happy ending anime, DONT WATCH THIS
- If you want a real life-like situation with what bad boys do, watch it but don't tell anyone about the ending,
- or if you just wanna watch the romance in it.... stop after a few episodes to save yourself the pain.

Ah...School Days,what a refreshing title,it must be time to get all nostalgic and reminisce my happy memories during school years.To the oblivious fool(me) who didn't read its synopsis or even check its genres,it really does appear so when episode one sprung out like summer,"It's time to enjoy youth!"

That said,I expect to see some cute relationships.There are plenty of romance but in School Days,love between two involved a third party and then everybody somehow joined in this avaricious relationship when the only male in the group began cheating the girls one after another.Watch how this series unravel its innocent front when all sorts of dirty backstabbing and jealousy-derived actions from the girls started going around as our male lead continues to act on his sexual desire and remaining irresponsible.Followed by many gripping twist of events,one by one,the girls realised the guy's true colour and there will be of course,a fitting ending which conclude the ugly mess (perfectly).

This is School Days in a nutshell,if extreme drama is your thing,you will enjoy what you see.Anyways,everyone should give School Days a try.The story although not entirely realistic,is educational at the very least.We get to learn from the character's wrongdoings,witness how their actions deeply affect others as everything slowly got dragged into calamity.When things grew out of control,everybody will have to pay the price for doing what they really shouldn't have.It just takes two to tango although the true victims should have been lefted out of this ordeal.

Otherwise,School Days has not only broken the usual tradition of harem anime but also how an ending could be like.A little like how Shuffle! scares some viewers with the Kaede arc but School Days definitely promises more.You won't believe the way everything malformed because it is all going south here in School Days.

------Animation-------
The wide range of dull colour used to establish a dark and gloomy atmosphere worked very well.So are the cellphone credits.I really like these types of ED,doesn't try to be spectacular but yet carries an unfathomable emptiness within,like the Genshiken ED.Always a pleasure to watch,thumbs up.

--------Sound----------
Pretty amazing,almost as much songs as episodes.Each one has its own flavour and personally I enjoyed listening to all of them very much.I even went out of my way to search for the mp3 and lyrics.My best pick goes to Usotsuki which has very touching lyrics despite how the melody chimes.

I have no qualms on voice acting,I do like Kotohoha's voice.All in all,sound is very strong and played a big role twisting emotions.

------Character---------
A cast like School Days...one can't help but to hate.We have an apathetic/despicable male lead who treats girls like prostitute and doesn't care what sort of misery he had put the girls through.The irritating fact is he likes to do it sneakily with one or two girl then return to his 'girlfriend' for second serving and tries to get away with all.Amazingly when 'caught',the girls are still head over heels in love with him.Him goes by the name Makoto,one who will be hated for a very long time.

The girls are not any better,they gossip and backstab each other,take advantage of others' situation,stealing friend's boyfriends then acts as though nothing has happened...and the best possible crap,filming your own friend together with a guy in bed(in school -_-) then watching and laughing with one another in front of that person just for the sake of fun.I bet you can't find epic 'friends' like this.This kind of slutty behavior going on around girls disgust me,reminds me of LIFE which is a very sad comparison.

Of course,there are always victims who had to suffer when this sort of crazy disorder are happening in school.Lucky ones receive support while unlucky ones with none to turn to will gradually degenerate into a dangerous state of mind.It is frightening to see such behavior honestly.Sometimes,we can't even blame them for the cause of their actions.

The characters and their actions are the most important factors in School Days.If one don't hate the villains,can't sympathize with the victims,consider the characters' action and their horrific development to be unnatural(I don't mean unrealistic) then School Days had failed miserably for him/her(which would result to yet another hater).For me,it is tolerable although I almost reached my last gasp during the final moments of the last episode.

Best character:Kotonoha/Setsuna(for me)
Worst character:Pretty much the rest,they are meant to be hated anyways.

If I can or...I will write about my thoughts for Setsuna.I strongly believe School Days wouldn't be half as good without her story and presence.

--------Closure---------
I had a pretty good laugh when I saw there was one review that heavily bashes this anime after watching just the first episode.Don't judge a book by its cover and School Days conveyed this message well.Underrated.

I will recommend everyone to watch this but it really varies between individuals preferences and how one could appreciate this kind of stuff.Be warned that watching School Days will only cause more grief and stress.If you seek any form of comfort or relaxation from anime,stay away from this totally.

I do regret watching School Days,for it leaves a hard and bittersweet feeling behind that I have still yet to rid.To be fair,School Days had pulled off an intense and engaging drama which teaches various moral values but just in the most grotesque fashion ever.

While I don't believe something this horrid happening in our daily life,like what one reviewer said,"School Days give us a glimpse into the dark side of 'love'." But not only that,we also get to see a really ugly side of school life.

There won't be a sequel,that's for sure.

-------Extras-------
Search around for the uncut version of the last episode.In case you don't know,the broadcast of the last episode was delayed prior to its scheduled date due to a murder incident occurring coincidentally on the same day,same night.As a result,the much anticipated closure was retracted to avoid any association with the murder.It was replaced with open sceneries which is how the Nice Boat meme comes into the picture.The producers then released an edited version of the last episode which is what you are watching now.

There were three major things amended.
One is the change of blood colour.Second is the amount of flashbacks.I won't spoil the last,go watch it.

Summer Days is the prequel(or a spin-off) of School Days which features Setsuna as the main character.

Also be sure to check out its game videos,especially the 3 infamous ones.I'll have you decide whether or not you want to view them since School Days is after all a H-game...but I guarentee Kotonoha fans will not be disappointed.

I apologise if I spoiled anything.

This anime is simply in touch with some of the deepest most complicated emotions, we humans could have...

The anime begins with not too conflicted every day situations, the characters are simplified, and not too conflicted,
but as the show continues, the situation gets deeper, and deeper and deeper in a way you don't see everyday at all.

The story is a romantic drama that involves a guy - student that falls in love with a girl who he sees everyday on a train,
and the following story forms around it, larger and larger and larger.
The ending. I am familiar with the word "shocker" - but such a shocker I never seen because what happens at the end of the series, redefines the word shock in my head and leaves a scar!...
This is a great anime, and I give it a 10/10 for realism, deepest artistic state of mind and a way to show every single detail in such depth of feeling and mind.

I just happened to came across School Days because i was searching for a school-romance themed anime and School Days isn't one of them. After watching the first episode, i thought that this was gonna be one of those anime where the main character and his crush loved each other till the end of the series. As the plot progressed, with one and two other girls showing up and loving Makoto, i thought "Maybe they'll find other people." But i then realized that all the girls in this anime (yes, even the annoying ones) are deeply madly in love with a bastard a.k.a Makoto. I watched a few anime where multiple girls are in serious love with the main character but all of them ended up with either they all become friends and see each other as love rivals or the guy picks a girl among them.

Using this method, i tried to predict who Makoto would choose. But after seeing him sleeping around with girls, i realized that i had no idea what was gonna happen next. There were a few times where i thought Makoto would be with Sekai and Kotohona would be with he's buddy Taisuke. But after seeing Kotohona going insane, i told myself this was an anime DEFINITELY worth knowing how it would end.



I was thinking of writing about Kotohona and Sekai, but i just couldn't find the words to talk about them. So to make this review short and simple, this anime affected me psychologically instead of moving my heart. It really gave a fresh taste in drama-genre animes. The ending could've been a little better but hey, with ***SPOILER*** Makoto's head in a bag, i couldn't be happier for that douche. ***ENDS***

Makoto Ito rides the train to and from school every day. However, at the beginning of his second term, he falls in love with a beautiful girl that also rides the train. Unfortunately, she barely knows of his existence. Her name is Kotonoha Katsura, and though they attend the same school, they are not in the same class. In an attempt to catch her eye, Makoto enlists the aid of a close female friend of his: Sekai Saionji. She helps him, despite the fact that she--unbeknownst to Makoto--is in love with him. Thus the three are bound in a love triangle of life changing proportions.

A lot of people have entered reviews on how much they hate the characters, or how shocking the ending was, but plenty of people are overlooking an important fact- some people will find this entertaining.

Personally, I thought it was a messed up anime from the beginning, so the ending didn't surprise me all that much. It's a dark show about mean, self-centered people who don't care about anybody else's feelings (mainly Makoto). School Days takes it one step too far for my liking, with the characters acting out what almost nobody would actually do, even in a fit of insanity.

All in all, I think it says a lot about this show that
1) most people who watch it, hate it
2) it has its own category on hentai sites

That's the only thing the 'average joe' will find entertaining about this series, in my opinion. If you really enjoy shows that make you think "humans are despicable creatures" then you will like this... Some people may bear with School Days for the adult aspect, but most of us will just want to switch off the computer and walk away.

This was totally a refreshing and well written anime that slipped through my sensors and left my whole hang-over ridden New Year's Day a treat! Like thousands of others who viewed it, STICK 2 THE END! Its well worth the 12 episodes of head-scratching. My only real gripe is the 'halo' that seemed to be placed on the male protagonist's head. But this helped a lot when it came to the love triangle. Who's innocent? Who's lying? Who deserves their true love? School Days can teach you about life that no classroom can do. Prepare to be schooled...

Honestly, after watching the whole series of School Days, it was really hard to debate how my whole feelings were on this anime. I was appalled at the ending and I'm sure so were alot of other people because it wasn't what I was expecting. In the begining, school days looks like just another romantic basis anime. But, along in the story involes some of the most un-realistic outcomes. I wouldn't reccomend this to people who don't like bad or un-predictable endings. Though, one thing in this anime that does seem to make worth the while is that things that go on in this school and with these girls happens in teenage life all the time. sex, betrayal, lust, and much more. Enjoy~

School Days

This anime is called School Days and it refers to a couple of teenagers during school time.
Even though many people have talked bad about this anime it still remains one of the best animes I've ever seen, and believe me I've seen plenty of them.
When this anime came out it started out as a really good piece of animation, and kids and adults soon began to like it. But some of the scenes in this anime were a bit too gruesome for some. You have a perfect match of love and school life and youth, you pretty much find out what it is to be back in school and start perhaps to regain some of your own memories.

As I started to watch this anime, I just couldn't sleep without watching the whole anime in one day. It was so good, it felt so strange cause I could see a bit of myself in the main character called Makoto Itou.
The anime sadly enough came to an end, and I was deeply dissapointed mostly because it was something that gave me tears while watching it.
Animes rarely do that to me, but this one surely did so.
