I've watched this series completely three times, watching the Onodera pairing over 7 times and the Kisa pairing 4 times. I mean, this is a series you can go back to time and time again, no doubt about it!

First of all, the art. Nakamura sensei does a unique (albeit slightly out of proportion) and sometimes quite erotic job of portraying the plot and characters. The anime adaptation smoothes out all the seme hands and other strange things and gives us clean profiles and amazing expression. True to the art, they animate the characters expression PERFECTLY, the comical round faces are done wonderfully in the anime and makes me laugh out loud.
The seiyuu's! They've done an amazing job (go check out the extra seiyuu talks on youtube too) in putting a voice to the character. I'm in particularly in love with Takano and Yukina, who have got there characters to a t. I didn't know what I was expecting from the seiyuu's but having heard them I just can't think of any other seiyuu portraying them. There are certain scenes where the voice is just incredibly emotional; particularly when Takano and Onodera are having a heart to heart session.
The plot is followed quite exactly from the manga; minus the explicit sex scenes, of which I'm glad of because Nakamura's stories always pull me in emotionally. Confrontation scenes are at the forefront of this anime, with many a pull and hold moment and confessional scenes. WHICH I LOVE. The storylines jump between three couples, two from the manga and one from the novel. The third couple is the Chiaki Hatori couple, which though visualised, I'm not a fan of, seeing as Chiaki is raped in the novels (though not depicted in the anime). Don't let that put you off the anime though (don‘t read the novels) , it’s one of the most heart-warming anime’s I’ve seen, you really interactive with the characters and cheer each of them on.
Most of all, the music. Possibly one of my favourite parts of the whole anime? The entire soundtrack of both seasons is utterly incredible, whether emotional or happy, the music adds so much to the scene being depicted on the screen. I actually fall asleep listening to a play list of the soundtrack each night. Yeah, I realise that’s overtly obsessive. The music is just that good. Every time I hear a track I think of the scenes its been in and I’m just filled with this fluffiness and temptation to watch certain snippets of the anime again - which I do. Frequently!
The anime has what I consider two ova’s. However I don’t consider the Hatori OVA (technically OVA 2) to be very interesting. The two flashback episodes are OVA 1 and episode 24, which is Takano’s perspective in the past (which is refreshing as the narrative is in Onodera’s voice and thoughts). The two OVA’s show each others’ thoughts about the same scene from the past , giving you a complete story on how they both met - making the story have so much more background, emotion and substance. I actually recommend watching OVA 1 and episode 24 together just because then you get the full back story, the cutesy young couple before getting onto the drama that the future characters have.
The OVA’s are pretty wonderful. Both the characters are wildly endearing, with OVA1+EP24 being a mini movie in itself.
Overall, this anime rates in my top 5, for sure. Everything about the anime is entertaining yet emotional and it never fails to impress me each time I watch. Be warned though! If you haven’t read the manga, you definitely will after this!
