Shows like this are why I watch anime.

This was anime of the year for me - nothing else has come close in comparison. Like other reviewers, I must ask that one not be dissuaded by the description and cover art, which could give the impression of a more immature show - This could not be further from the truth! Like other reviewers, I must ask that one not be dissuaded by the description and cover art, which could give the impression of a more immature show - This could not be further from the truth! This anime is a mature, thought provoking, and philosophical, set in a world of grey morality.

The pacing is typically excellent, though at times it has moments where there is a little slack or a little too much haste - this can be forgiven, however, as it is exclusive to a couple of the earlier episodes. The setting and world-building is stunning, and it is refreshing to see story telling so well executed and thought out as to not require excessive suspension of disbelief or contrivances.

The animation quality seems good, and the soundtrack is a delight - featuring Dvorak's Symphony 9 "From the New World". I will not give spoilers, so all I can say about the state ending is that it was outstanding and did not disappoint. Very few anime can nail an ending so well, bringing everything together, and satisfy the viewer completely.

All in all, this is a masterpiece. It is a tragedy that this anime has, as of writing, not sold too well in Japan - and perhaps this why this is the first time I have gone to the trouble of writing a review about an anime.

You would be doing yourself a disservice if you do not give it a try.

Way more than I ever thought I would imagine!!

When I first started watching this anime, I wasn't sure if I would like it or not. It seemed kind of similar to others I had seen--they live in a future world, have telekinetic powers, etc.--but it turned out to be so much more than that.

It is a dark, mature anime with an amazing storyline. The world and culture which the characters live in is so multifaceted that it is easy to imagine it ...

When I first started watching this anime, I wasn't sure if I would like it or not. It seemed kind of similar to others I had seen--they live in a future world, have telekinetic powers, etc.--but it turned out to be so much more than that.

It is a dark, mature anime with an amazing storyline. The world and culture which the characters live in is so multifaceted that it is easy to imagine it actually exists. And behind all of this amazing background, is an intriguing mystery about their world. The best part of the mystery is that every time you find out something new that adds to the answer, you end up with more questions, and on and on, right up until the final episode when it all clicks together and makes sense.

Some people may not want to watch this anime because it looks cute and carefree and harmless, but let me tell you, it was not that. From the first episode it hinted at a dark undertone. Some people may not even like it anyway. It has some parts in it that surprised me, and though it did not stop me from watching, some people might think

"gross! everybody is having sex with each other and stuff!! >_<"
but it is so much better than just that part.

The only thing I might complain about is that it was slightly hard to follow at times. Sometimes I was confused, but as long as I paid attention to what they said and kept a keen eye and mind open, I could keep up. But that's just me.

I truly recommend this anime. One of my top 10 favorite animes that I've seen.

This Anime Is Worth Watching ^_^

The story, the characters, and the action in this anime is amazing. This anime is really worth your time. It seems like a child anime from the cover but inside it's mature, bloody, and action packed. I recommend this show to the people who likes a good kick ass blood scenes. I really hope there is a second season.

Absolutely Amazing Series!

Nothing happens in this story without a reason. It's a shock to the very center of human morality and in this story as with real life there really is no true villain just different perspectives.

Please be patient as it starts off slow, but remember every event no matter how small serves a purpose.

An anime worth the watch.

I have to say that From the New World is really amazing, I would highly recommend it. The story starts a bit slow but as time progresses the plot itself gets more interesting, at the end of each episode it leaves you wanting for more.

I do my best to not spoil the story, and i have to explain these few things first: 1. it's an anime that require certain level of understanding, therefore it's not recommended for kids. 2. It contains lots of mature stuffs, it is not recommended for kids. 3. it's a story with lot of philosophical questions, and judgement.

Great story, exciting to watch

I love the characters as well as the character development in this story. They go from child-teen-adult showing the struggles and achievements throughout her life. Watch this show everyone

This show is one of the best shows I have ever seen. It’s a little slow in the beginning but after episode 8 it gets crazy good. This story is not for kids if you’re mature enough to get invested in a great and one of the best ending story give this a shot. The beginning is hard to understand but don’t worry it will all make sense. So watch it!

Dark Dystopian ethical drama

What if we gave human beings huge magical powers -- any chance they'd screw it up?

Uh ... YEAH!! - Big Time. In order to survive, society must adjust over 1,000 years of history into new forms and practices. -- Okay, that about covers the first 2 minutes of the series.

Throw in a certain side effect that reaches a cusp at the time of this series, you have a nice ethical drama around ...

Throw in a certain side effect that reaches a cusp at the time of this series, you have a nice ethical drama around questions of transition and the nature of humanity. Starts to slow around episode 23, but with the feeling that they're building to a big finish.

This is one of those where the characters all act like real people instead of characters in a story, with the inevitable messy results. I'd put it on the self next to DeathNote.
