A really great anime. The cover is pretty deceiving with a just bunch of kids smiling..sure they start out as kids and there may be some romance but its a hardcore mystery with plenty of action. So far its got an awesome story with some strong characters. I love the whole idea of their "power" and they future they live in.

Breathtaking scenes, amazing characters, Shin Sekai Yori is one of the best anime i've seen in years. Not only does it keep changing and literally keep you balanced at the edge of your seat but so many things happen in this anime that you would never believe. This is truly one of the rare best anime's out there, and i truly believe it will continue to knock your socks off till the very end.

Utopia at first glance, dystopia under the covers

This is quickly becoming one of my favorite animes, probably because I am a literary nerd who loves books like Brave New World and LeGuin's The Dispossessed. I'd call this a mix between the two, although Shin Sekai Yori definitely has some unique elements. I am anxious to see the end; most dystopian literature doesn't end happy-go-lucky. Make no mistakes, this is no romance, but a psychological thriller.

Like many others have written, I too was put off by the cover and description, and even the first couple minutes of the anime. Boy was I wrong. Four episodes in and you can see the seeds of darkness as they first begin to grow, and once you've progressed to the current point of the anime (ep 19), those seeds have fully grown. Four episodes in and you can see the seeds of darkness as they first begin to grow, and once you've progressed to the current point of the anime (ep 19), those seeds have fully grown. The anime has taken on a terrifyingly dark atmosphere.

The characters have grown up, and the plotline has thickened deeper than I could have thought when I started watching this morning. This is a must watch, and I'm pretty certain I will be having some nightmares tonight. Even so, hopefully they will possess the same brilliant artwork and creativity that the show has possessed thus far.

This Anime is Intense

I put this anime off for a long time simply because when I looked at the picture and read the description it seemed like it was going to be more like a "magic girls" kind of experience.

I finally got sucked into this last week. I finished all 19 episodes in one day. I loved it. I couldn't stop. It was so emotionally engaging. The characters became real and I fell in love with each of them. I usually do not get upset when watching anime. It's a fun laid back thing for me to do, but some of the things in this anime were unsettling and made me sad. This is definitely a mature anime with a lot of secrets and darkness. I loved it. I can't wait to finish it, but at the same time, I don't want it to end.

ok so i was waiting to do a review but after 19 episodes i can tell you this is one of the deepest darkest and most intense shows i have ever seen anime or not..this anime is one of the most intriguing and suspenseful shows i have seen after 3 episodes i was hooked and find myself watching the count down for the next episode ..the story takes place in the near future and fallows the life of 5 ...

ok so i was waiting to do a review but after 19 episodes i can tell you this is one of the deepest darkest and most intense shows i have ever seen anime or not..this anime is one of the most intriguing and suspenseful shows i have seen after 3 episodes i was hooked and find myself watching the count down for the next episode ..the story takes place in the near future and fallows the life of 5 esper users from preschool to adulthood in a rather uniqe and scientific approach from the very first episode to the last the history of the world and the mystery of there powers will have you on the edge of your seat wanting more plus this show is much darker and mature then you might think ..some say it can be hard to fallow at times but i had no issues keeping up MY ONLY ISSUE WAS WAITING A FREAKING WEEK TO SEE NEXT EPISODE...this anime will have you thinking out side the box and not sence ergo proxy did i find myself thinking so much on what is going on what will happen ..i strongly recommend giving this a shot( perfectt anime)

If you like mysterious, serious, realistic anime... this isn't your typical anime... there aren't any humorous instances.

Story - 10/10

The story starts off slow, but the build up is worth it. The characters are very likable and realistic. This is an anime where you grow up with the characters through their lives.

I can honestly say that this is one of the most intriguing animes I've watched in a long time. The description and front cover really don't do it justice and don't provide all that much into what the anime is actually like.

A small spoiler where the anime is at now, episode 16, the characters are no longer teenagers but twenty-six years old. So as the anime goes on and they grow up, as they grow up the world becomes a more serious and scary place. The art is beautiful and some of the forest scenes that they've done are very well done. It somewhat reminds me of the scary scenes in the old cartoon 'Snow White'

At times it can be a bit slow with politics and such, as it is what the main character doesn't know you don't know. So you're as confused as she is with the entire ordeal. It's something that I could honestly see happening in the future, not quite to this extreme but similar to it.

Great anime, deep and involved

Unexpectedly one of the better anime's I've ever watched. This show follows a group of people throughout their lives, even into to their later years. Showing how the scenarios of one future could have social and moral impacts on people is a very interesting approach.

Shin Sekai Yori explores some things I'd been curious to see for a long time and puts their own style into it very nicely.

I absolutely love it. If you like futuristic, sci-fi, apocalyptic themes mixed in with magic (telekinese) and other interesting things, this is for you!!

You wouldn't tell from the cover, but this is truly a unique show who's story stands out amongst the sea of anime shows
