  • Very Pleasantly Surprised
This is a drama. There's essentially no comedy, and it works very well. Everything ties together and no time is wasted. There's not even an intro -- just a title flash as you are drawn directly into the story again. The story revolves around one character and her group of friends. Through them, the world is revealed as they learn about it. It's excellent writing.

No character is overplayed in ...

    Eerie and Unexpected
TL;DR: Creepy, be ready for some twists. Dark and mature themes. Inconsistency with the art style, but can usually be ignored.

Did you watch the first episode and go "meh"? Watch the second episode and said "ehhh..."? Yeah, me, too. For whatever reason, probably my insatiable curiosity, I stuck with it.
Shin Sekai Yori has a subtle seductive quality: you don't realize that you've been ...

    Really incredible anime! refreshingly different
This is one of the most amazing series I've watched in a long time, it's such a shame that some people gave up on it after the first few episodes. Stick with it, it gets so good! It's refreshingly unique and doesn't simply go with cliches. It's very dark and with many interesting turns, it wasn't at all what I expected. The ending was incredible and left me with chills, I would seriously recommend ...

  • Dark, Thought Provoking, and More than Meets the Eye
To pull off an anime that is dark and mature is not an easy thing to do and in many cases they do not deliver. Thankfully this isn't one of them. There is a lot to love about this anime. The setting is engrossing and makes you want to learn more about it. None of the characters necessarily feel fake and you cannot help but sympathize with them considering the burdens they carry along the way. The ...

  • One of, if not THE best anime to ever be created.
Words can hardly express the amount of satisfaction I have, now that I've finished From the New World. No anime has ever been an Epic to me, until I watched this. And by Epic, I mean something that is just so expertly written, so well executed in it's production, that it transcends the bounds of what I may have thought perfection was. Where most are good, even great, there is always been some ...

  • Unique, Original, Moving, Mind-blowing, A "Must Watch"!
At first I wasn't so sure about this anime. I was extremely lost during the first five episodes, the only reason why I kept watching was because of the animation. I am SO glad I didn't give this one up!

I think the best thing about this anime is it's story. It has an amazing original plot that twists and turns, it was so much fun to watch it unravel! One minuet you think the anime is about one ...

    Very Disturbing, Quite Unforgettable
From the first episode, this anime pulled me in but I actually had to stop watching it (for about a month) after a couple of episodes because I was so disturbed and scared (yes, scared). But I know that once the feeling goes away and I get over the dread, I will watch the succeeding episodes, and I did. This is the first anime to do that to me. It is very psychological and inspires both dread and ...

Like A Wave This Show Has High Clefts And Low Troughs Due To A Divisive Plot
It's hard really to put into words how I felt about this series and I believe that is its strongest suit. The story feels ephemeral and dream like while dealing with very dark themes. Looking at the poster as I write this makes me realize that this anime didn't turn out any way that I thought it would and that could be seen as a good or bad thing. The problem is you really can't tell if you like ...

    misclassified, mislabeled, and extremely deep.
a dark and philosophical journey that pulls no punches and is filled with complex three-dimensional characters. No 'simple' villains, even in the most obvious places, and decisions that you root for -at the time- often come back to haunt you as their realistic aftershocks return.

Most anime that begins with a child protagonist takes the stand that those children are the wisest people in the ...
