    An unexpected masterpiece.
Many people may be turned off by the Yaoi in a couple episodes, but if you watch it all the way through you would find a rich, engaging and unforgettable anime. The art and animation in this show is beautiful and works well with the theme, the plot is thought provoking, and it's characters each have unique traits that make them stand out. It may seem like a generic school drama at first glance; ...

    'Sobre o novo mundo"

"Eu não sei com que armas se lutará a Terceira Guerra Mundial, mas a Quarta será com paus e pedras". Albert Einstein

    - quase isso. "Shin Sekai Yori" começa contando a vida de 5 estudantes em uma cidade/colônia, onde pelos protagonistas é contado a história do mundo 1000 anos a partir dos dias de hoje.
O que seria 1000 anos a partir de hoje? O trama é baseado na repetição da ...

This show needs to be watched!
A story about five children growing up in a pastoral dystopia with more than a few dark secrets. Over more than a decade the five deal, or fail to deal, with the hidden problems endemic to their society. It's surprisingly decent social science fiction, and this was definitely my favorite anime of fall/winter 2012/2013. You can tell it's not from just manga or a light novels.

    I gave it 5/5, ...

One of my top 5 ever
Don't let the first few episodes fool you- this is no pre-teen romance anime. So many ideas explored here- by the end it will blow your mind. Questions about society/technology/control vs. freedom, etc. are all explored. To say more would be spoiling it!

    Brilliant, well written, stylistically strong
Deep storyline, real and believable (and human) characters, strong emotional and philosophical themes mixed with a post-human setting. I found it extremely compelling graphically, as well. The style is simple but it's used in a meaningful way, and they do a lot of interesting things with colour and negative space.
The style and the story really help each other out, they're both sort of bleak and ...

    mature but teen appropriated anime
first let be clear when i say mature there is no nudity it just very mature in how they talk and the themes most kids this would be over their head that is all. the only reason this is getting four stars is because the anime is really slow when you start oh but when it does. it truly is a great one to watch. i suggest for older teens in high school or adults. it is violent at times but it makes ...

  • exciting, creative, unexpecting but a little sad
I love the idea of the anime, its a lot different then other animes, where actual bad things happen to people instead of the impossible happening and everyone lives happily ever after. Its just such a good show

  • Easily one of the best anime's of Winter 2012/2013
I don't want to spoil it for anyone but believe me when I say that this one, this one will have you hooked. Yes, yes it starts off a bit slow but keep at it. By episode three or four the story begins to unfold and shit really starts to hit the fan. I wish it hadn't ended at only 25 episodes but man did they end it wonderfully.

  • Spectacular and Worth Watching
What really grabbed me about this show was the first few moments of episode one. After that, I was hooked and wanted to know more about this world and all the characters in it. Things progress relatively quickly, as you learn more about the world from the character's perspective. Season 2, however, is where things get great. Where the first season set up a great world and characters to care about, ...

    An Amazing Piece of Work
I'd like to agree with reviewer mipegg regarding the poor marketing for SSY. In no way does the "poster" or description hint to the well layered psychological drama that is Shin Sekai Yori. You think it's cute school kids with powers. I'm sure people who were expecting some light fanciful anime felt let down in the first few episodes and stopped watching. Mores the pity.

    Shin Sekai Yori is ...
