Censorship: Defeating the purpose of Crunchyroll

Generally speaking, if you enjoy light hearted, somewhat wacky anime, you probably won't be disappointed. The whole experience is however ruined by the absurd level of censorship.

Granted, this is ecchi. So the question that has to be asked that if this amount of censorship (occasionally obscuring half the screen) is necessary for Crunchyroll, why is it available here in the first place? An age ...

Granted, this is ecchi. So the question that has to be asked that if this amount of censorship (occasionally obscuring half the screen) is necessary for Crunchyroll, why is it available here in the first place? An age restriction could easily be added in with much less effort than censoring every episode.

So Crunchyroll has me kind of trapped. I subscribe so I can support the authors without paying $60 for boxed sets, but now I'm interested in the show and want to see it without censorship. So I either have to shell out some cash or get it from a torrent. I guess I can still justify getting it via a torrent because I'm still paying for Crunchyroll anyway?

GOOD ECCHI ANIME, BUT LAZY CENSORSHIP!

If you are an ecchi anime fan you will enjoy this show, but do not watch it on Crunchyroll. The shows on here have always been heavily censored, but this one takes the cake. I have never seen this kind of lazy censorship before. If it is a sign of things to come I would consider canceling my membership.

The censorship of this anime was done with unbelievable laziness. This anime contains a good amount of nudity, every action/fight scene at the lest. The censor uses a large scythe shaped black bar that takes up 25-35% of the screen. It is placed in a way that it will be able to block the nudity over the course of an extended time, and It stays in place for pretty much the entire action/fight scene. This has us missing more then just nudity and kills the action. It feels like I've been stuffed into a school locker and I'm peeping at the action through the vents. Although, I hate DUBs and censored anime in general, comical pasties or blurs would of been acceptable. I enjoy all kinds of anime so Crunchyroll's heavy censorship will not effect my membership, for now...

This is an enjoyable ecchi anime if you watch it as I did, somewhere else! In fact I can not recommend watching any ecchi anime on Crunchyroll, although, they still do have plenty of great genres to choose from that will be keeping my membership in play. If you are looking for this anime elsewhere it can be found under "Dakara Boku wa, H ga Dekinai".

Just like some of the other reviews here, nothing is more destructive to an anime then blacking out 1/3 of the screen because you don't wanna show boobs on an ecchi anime. What again is the "Mature filter" for in crunchyroll you plaster this kinna garbage across the screen?
I don't pay for censorship. I pay for subtitled uncensored anime and try and support the industry. If you cant provide me ...

I don't pay for censorship. I pay for subtitled uncensored anime and try and support the industry. If you cant provide me with this, then i cancel my sub and get it uncensored.

Censorship - Should it be on Crunchyroll?

Let me just go out there and say that I support Anime artists, I pay crunchyroll for this because they provide a very good anime service. However, if you are going to broadcast an extremely ecchi program such as this, I do not want to see large black bars taking up most of the screen to cover up boobies.

Because of this I am seriously reconsidering my membership.

Good Anime But some little issues

So, I can't play H! is an anime about a guy Ryosuke Kaga helps a girl Lisara Restor that stops the evil by giving her his "Erotic spirit energy."

It has a good story and lots of fan services, but when it comes to the censorship. Boom there comes a whole big black line covering the half of the video while you can just cover it with a little square. A little bit too much of fan service but ...

This is a good show getting a bad rep

This show was one of my favorites during the Summer 2012 season. Unfortunately, I have noticed it getting bad reviews mostly because of the editing. This show is FULL of fanservice which has been blackened out on Crunchyroll almost to the point where you can't see anything on the screen. There are also times during the show where they could have picked up the pace a bit. I did enjoy the storyline ...

Good show, but find the BDs

Ok first off to the other reviewers that posted while the show was airing. This is how the show was aired in Japan, there is nothing Crunchy Roll could do about it. That being said, now that the uncensored BDs are out, it should probably be replaced.

This review is based off the show, not whining because it's censored.

The show is pretty good for one so full of fan service. What sets this apart from other H anime is that the main male protagonist is the most charismatic and likable character in the show. He is extremely obsessed with all things perverted, even being thought of as amazing for it at his school, and he is not afraid to show it. The female protagonists are mostly very likable as well, with the exception of the childhood friend who is just the cookie cutter example.

The ecchi is abundant in this one, pretty much guaranteed to see a nipple or two in every episode. This is mostly funny and doesn't feel forced except when the main female is going to confront the big bad and she's running around fighting basically naked and being super serious about it all without showing any acknowledgement that she's nude, that being said, This anime is absolutely hilarious and I really recommend it.

It's a very good series, but I highly suggest you find the uncensored version. Not so much because "Yay boobies" but more because black bars and light shafts are REALLY annoying. If you're paying for a subscription here, I don't think anyone can blame you streaming this one from another site.

Adult anime that sensors nudity (breasts) in an attempt to make it more teen friendly but fails

The innuendos are all still there with the plot ultimately being a openly horny teen who has his hornyness sucked out of him for the sake of powering a soul reaper. Now the viewers moral view on this aside; it is a action comedy.

If you can and your child is mature enough then this should be really funny. It certainly isn't hentai-like that you would have to guard tissue boxes. Obviously the other reviews explain how artistically (not to be mistaken with sexually) unpleasant the censorship is.

Overall the low rating is for failing to be at least a little aesthetic about the censoring (note: I didn't say the censoring itself). That's okay because for people like me we can just watch the original version on other sites.

Note: For the review by the "young girl" (probably her parent because she still doesn't understand) and the 5 star avenger before her it just shows an epic failure of parenting. Crunchyroll is to my knowledge not only targeted to immature little kids but adults that like anime as well. This nonsense about half the screen missing because the ORIGINAL ARTIST had breasts showing in the corner DOES detract from the flow of the anime regardless who's fault it is (Japan or America). Right or wrong this version is censored as opposed to the author's intent. Unlike 5 star avenger I won't rage review and give a 1-star because I believe the plot, voice acting, unaltered artistry, and characters are all great. If there wasn't any nudity in the original then It would be 5-star but still not for immature audiences.

As for the penis comment maybe the artists weren't ****** enough. (I censored myself but the edited version would be a "crude spherical slang for being daring")

I believe this was a great anime, but they went overboard on the censorship to ensure they wouldn't get in trouble.

Before many of you comment saying but i have seen many uncensored so and so. most of that censorship removing is done from US companys as it is illegal in japan. it isn't crunchyrolls job to remove censorship.

anyway great story, wish there wasn't as much censorship where it wasn't needed but nothing can be done about that. thanks crunchyroll, keep bringing us the anime we love.
