Perhaps, the best anime series to show to a mature audience.
    (Review as of episode 74)

Space Brothers is an anime that I found any mature-minded audience can enjoy. Even if, they've never been a fan of any anime or any animated shows in their lifetime. Once they get rid out of their system that it's an anime, Space Brothers is a likely enjoyable experience.

Space Brothers is realistic, as expected of slice of life genre, in the way it approach the ...

It's rare to see anime from Seinen manga (comic for 20-30 years old). But pacing is very slow.
The biggest problem is that it progresses so slow. Pacing is horrible, and there are so many extremely boring episodes. They can easily edit and compress the 70 episodes to 20 episodes. Some episodes are very original and heart-warming, so it's a shame to get low rating due to bad episodes. Some episodes are complete rip off of October Sky.

    All about the story.
This show doesn't need flashy fight scenes or giant monsters to be intriguing and exciting (not that I don't like them too). The relationship between the brothers and their mentor is a great addition. You also find yourself rooting for Mutta and Hibito and actually getting emotionally invested in all the characters. Space brothers is also quite funny at times, especially Mutta and his parents. ...

If your six year old self could see you now
It's highly likely that you wanted to grow up to be an astronaut. Don't lie; I did too. Space Brothers is the kick in your ass from your childhood that demands to know why you chose mediocrity when you can do something great with your life. Such is the case for our protagonist, Mutta Nanba. Join a heart warming journey of a man who still wants to prove to the world that it is NEVER to late to ...

A One of A Kind Anime
When this show first came to crunchyroll, my first thoughts were "well, i'm not really interested in space" so I avoided watching it. But after around 50 episodes had aired, and in a moment of extreme boredom. I decided to give this anime a chance. What can I say besides that I was blown away. This anime hooks you into the story and takes you on a rollercoaster of anticipation to joy to ...

    Great anime, and very motivational
This anime is amazing, and is very well done. It is surprisingly realistic in a lot of things even their training. I have researched many times about Nasa and i am currently working and studying to be able to work there, i have sometimes though of it as impossible but this anime is a great motivator and the faq that is very realistic is great. Also i love the character Namba Mutta specially how he ...

A good balance of reality vs. fiction
Initially, I was hesitant to watch this anime. It was suggested to me by my younger brother who often watches a mix of mystery/mahou-shoujo shows.

This is well done. Some of the episodes drag on a little bit, and I understand that it is to build suspense, but there comes a point where I began to lose interest. There was even an unnecessary filler episode which put me off quite a bit. ...

Historically accurate, scientifically sometime very inaccurate
Space Brothers is often praised for being historically accurate and scientific and technically realistic. The praise for its historical accuracy is deserved.

It scientific realism, however, is mixed. While It avoids many science fiction clichés, such as spacecraft that maneuver like airplanes (a cliché hopelessly fixed in our cultural memory by the Star Wars movies), and presents many ...

  • Pure entertainment mixed with real science!
The science for the most part is good!
    The human drama is excellent!
Who needs bug-eyed aliens, laser battles, and forced pathos, when you have good writing. This one of those rare serials that you want to go on and on. I want to see these brothers strive and evolve as the first "Tycho" Moon Base is built.
The writers have really captured the excitement and wonder in the people who ...
