No monsters or young protagonists are needed to make Space Brothers an Awesome Anime. (Mid-review)

Space Brothers is about a middle aged man trying to get to the moon by becoming an astronaut. It won't be easy, since he has bad luck beside him, and a lot of younger and tougher competitors to become astronauts. Strangely enough I find this tale to be intriguing... and I can't quite figure out why that is. Yet, the show is captivating with the story of how this man could follow his younger brother's path to be an astronaut.

The show's music is very space oriented (as it should be) and is fitting. The animation isn't stellar but it is hard to show off animation in a show that is all about passing exams to be an astronaut and such. The characters are all captivating in how they all have reasons for what they do and some of them you just want to know more about.

Don't let this show slip right by, it is very heartwarming about how you are never too old to try and follow your dream. There may not be any demons or large breasted females fighting over a guy, but that isn't needed... which makes Space Brothers even more captivating. Check it out.

The show is good!

You definitely get the feel of the main characters right away which is great and helps you to identify with the show and understand the characters.

There is simple, everyday life humor involved (slightly exaggerated of course, it's still an anime XD!!) with the way certain characters act or scenes play out but there are your modern day everyday struggles mixed into it as ...

There is simple, everyday life humor involved (slightly exaggerated of course, it's still an anime XD!!) with the way certain characters act or scenes play out but there are your modern day everyday struggles mixed into it as well.

After watching a few episodes, I have already decided this will be another show I will be keeping up with! No it's not flashy with aliens, super powers, robots, over-the-top exaggerations (like nosebleeds lol....) but it carries a story with meaning, and that's what's important overall.

Original and awesome

I normally don't write reviews, but since this series only has two reviews, so far, it felt like I had to write one.

This is a great slice of life anime set in the near future. If you like slice of life series - I usually don't, but even I liked this one - futuristic series, or are interested in space in any way, shape, or form, then watch this.

The large cast of characters are characterized excellently and the protagonist, Mutta Nanba, is likable to easy to relate to. The plot is original and everything is well researched - I am a nerd, so seeing so much done right just made this for me.

Honestly, the music is the only thing I disliked. It sounds like someone made a time machine, went to the 60s, took a street performer, and got him to make the OST

Two brothers see a U.F.O and vow to become astronauts. Many years have passed and the younger of the two brothers is preparing for a mission to the moon while the older brother has just been fired from his job (designing cars) for head-butting a superior.

The story focus on the older brother, Mutta, as the protagonist. A man in his early thirties who seems to be suffering from an early mid-life ...

Two brothers see a U.F.O and vow to become astronauts. Many years have passed and the younger of the two brothers is preparing for a mission to the moon while the older brother has just been fired from his job (designing cars) for head-butting a superior.

The story focus on the older brother, Mutta, as the protagonist. A man in his early thirties who seems to be suffering from an early mid-life crisis, unable to help comparing himself to his younger and more successful brother. It isn't long before Mutta is given the opportunity to apply to become an astronaut in a new space program aiming to take the first men to Mars. Will Mutta have the courage to take this opportunity? And even if he does, will he be able to succeed with his pessimistic outlook?

'Space Brothers' is all about the characters and how they grow throughout the series, each of them striving for a different goal. Mutta is the most interesting of these characters, he's a bit of a goofball but he's very easy to relate to.

Interesting Show With Unique Story Behind

I feel as if this show is more realistic than other anime. I guess that is one big reason it drew me in. Another reason i believe it drew me in is because it has a unique story behind it. It goes in the mind of someone going through an early mid-life crises and its very interesting!

My new favorite anime!

This anime is a very special show that I am zealously showing my friends and family. It doesnt use violence or cheap drama to tell its amazing story. This anime is brand new in Japan, so lets show it some love!

Surprisingly great series!

This is one of those series that had me from the beginning and just won't let go. It's definitely got a lot of heart and is one of the most endearing anime programs that I've seen. Highly recommended for all.

I love this show more than I thought I would.

I can somehow identify with Mu and this fascination the Nanba bros. have about going into space, since I wanted to be an astronaut when I was younger. The show has some likeable characters and a handful that get under your skin. It is very story driven and they have done a good job in keeping you emotionally invested in Mu. I recommended this show to everyone I know and they're liking it too. I ...

Es una serie con un gran sentido del humor, sin caer en vulgaridades o cosas sin sentido, es el tipo de serie que puedes ver con toda la familia. Muestra mucho sobre el entrenamiento de los astronautas y la exploracion espacial. Los personajes son solidos y completamente creibles, la música está a la altura. El dibujo y manejo de los colores son notables, asi como la composición de escenas y ...

Es una serie con un gran sentido del humor, sin caer en vulgaridades o cosas sin sentido, es el tipo de serie que puedes ver con toda la familia. Muestra mucho sobre el entrenamiento de los astronautas y la exploracion espacial. Los personajes son solidos y completamente creibles, la música está a la altura. El dibujo y manejo de los colores son notables, asi como la composición de escenas y diseño de personajes. Los dos openings y endings vistos hasta la fecha enganchan, no son del tipo que quitas cada vez que empieza o termina un capitulo. Se ha vuelto en una de mis series favoritas de todos los tiempos.

A story that gets you hooked instantly

From the release of episode 1 up until to present, I have eagerly awaited the release of the next episode.

The art is good, the music is catchy and the story is realistic & relatable.
The characters are incredibly likeable and the humour is plentiful. You know plenty about both Nanba & Hibito's childhood and back story. It also goes into depth with some of the other main characters as well. ...

From the release of episode 1 up until to present, I have eagerly awaited the release of the next episode.

What keeps me hooked the most is discovering Nanba's hidden talents

Eg. His high lung capacity from the playing the trumpet, being able to notice hidden details and memorizing where things are placed in brief period of time.

This is certainly one to be part of my DVD collection in the future and easily now part of my top 5 anime of all time. Certainly the best of last season without a doubt.
