Steel Angel Kurumi

Nothing original in the plot, nor in the characters. As the authors say in the opening song (really cool and addicting!) this anime is:
lyrical, comical, romantical. The story features steel angels (hot chicks with enourmous strength), built from scientists coming from the future in order to save the world. The most powerful one, Kurumi, has a different kind of heart (each steel angel has a heart containing the souls of angels as a source of life and energy), called Angel Heart Mark 2. She's a creature of Dr. Ayanokoji. All angels need a mystic to activate them, since those creatures are a connubium between science and mysticism.
Nakahito is the one who activates (just by coincidence, with a kiss) Kurumi, even if he's still a boy and a novice in the mystic arts. From that moment, as a sort of imprinting, Kurumi calls him Master, and she's in love with him.
Then a new angel is activated by the government with the help of Dr. Amagi (a woman which is in love with Ayanokoji) and Dr.Brandow, which then reveals as a traitor. The Steel Angel Saki tries to kill Kurumi, but fails and almost dies instead. So Kurumi kisses and awakens her. Now Kurumi is Saki's Master. Even though Saki speaks about "sisterly love", it's obvious that she loves her Master in another way...
A third sister will follow almost the same route: created by Dr. Brandow and his father (which are scientists from the future like Ayanokoji)), the cute Karinka will try to kill the other sisters, but then fall in love with Nakahito and decide to cooperate with them.
The Heart Mark 2 will reveal its full power and danger, but once again the "power of love" blah-blah-blah-

As we go on, the plot unfolds more and more, and a lot of other angels are introduced, as well as other minor characters. At the end of the standard 24 episodes, you have another 4, but unrelated from the main plot. Then there's a second season (horrible) and an OVA (which I recommend)

All in all, a good anime, but not so much if you're looking for an amazing plot, or for a lot of nudity. But if you have a cold, and have to stay home a couple of days (as happened to me) give it a try and you won't be disappointed.

I recently began watching this when someone on the forums directed my attention to the fact that it's disappearing from Crunchyroll on 12/31/2012 and requested a marathon of it. While I do not think this deserves a marathon per se, it does at least warrant investigation.

First, a public service announcement. Watch in a well-lit room at a good distance from the TV. Takes 10 seconds, fairly straightforward. If you're looking at this and think this is what the animation quality is going to be like, keep looking.

The first thing that stands out right in our face is a pair of breasts. I'm not kidding, bam. Right there, boobies within the first minute. That's not exactly a promising start, as usually the earlier you see a character naked the lower the quality of the series - and this is in episode 1, not a good start. The good news is that so far this doesn't seem to encompass the ENTIRE series (this is the only instance of nudity in episode 1), but the fanservice is a bit heavier than most good stories really need.

Almost immediately after we're greeted with the opening theme. It's extremely sugary-sweet, cutesy-sounding and will get stuck in your head if you let it (it's still stuck in mine and set to repeat, similar to having Navi around me all the time). It portrays the premises of the series as a wonderful, lyrical, magical romantic comedy.

Once the main theme finishes we're met with the meat of the series. We're introduced to four characters, one of whom is the male lead. This young boy (go figure) goes by the name Nakahito, and he is the son of a family of Onmyou mystics. He is being dragged around by his three friends towards the mansion of someone they call Dr. Akuma.

As can be expected, the three "friends" basically drop poor Nakahito into an opening in the mansion's wall that leads to the basement. Left with no way out, Nakahito wanders through the mansion until he finds a young woman with pink hair - he assumes her to be a doll at first. As he looks at her face an earthquake rattles the premises and brings her down on top of him, causing her lips to meet his own. Seconds later, as he is recovering from the surprise, she awakens and recognizes him as her master.

As the episode continues a group of things are brought to light. First, the doctor who owns the mansion wanted to awaken the girl himself as he was the one who created her in the first place. Second, her name is Kurumi, and she is the first Steel Angel (OMG, who would have guessed?). Thirdly, the military wanted to capture Kurumi and the doctor in order to use them to create instruments of war - you know, like the military always does with everything everywhere. That's where episode 1 leaves off.

Honestly in my opinion this show just serves to show the perversions of Japanese night time media, kinda similar to the premise of the Late Show with David Letterman except less vulgar and more of a guilty pleasure kind of thing. Several stereotypical Japanese fetishes are catered to here, the first of which being the overly-cutesy voice (yes, that is a thing). Shall I cover all the things I noticed?

- Cutesy-voice
- Pink hair
- Exposed breasts
- Kiss-bound contract of devotion
- Master / servant mentality
- Perfect devotion (will do ANYTHING master tells her to)
- Maid uniform
- "Angel" title (reinforced by angel wings during the OP)
- Woman in uniform (commanding officer for the military)

I've probably missed a few, but that's 9. In ONE EPISODE. Granted the show itself isn't TERRIBLE, but the amount of fanservice is already over the top.

So there you have it. If you're looking for a series that lays it on thick with the cheesecake, a series with an animation style that was used before the turn of the millennium, or a series that just makes you feel warm and tingly, watch this series (but do it fast, only 4+ days left!). If you're looking for something that will make you think about life or something that will make you try to figure it out before everything comes together in the end, you might want to skip this one over.

This Anime seems similar to Sora No Otoshimono and Aa! Megami-sama except there is no angeloids or real Angels. Story is pretty neat and not complex; one protagonist which have got no special powers or magics and absolutely weak, awakens one pretty cyborg named Kurumi with accidentally kiss.

Story continue with funny events and interesting key points. I have to admit when I watched several episodes, I figure out future events pretty easily. So, there is no complex story in there but it was very funny. I don't know if we should call this series as "Mahou Shojo" but if you are fan of similar settings you will like Steel Angel Kurumi too.

Soundtracks are very pretty for example Intro. Voice acts very good too because Seiyuu cast didn't bore me for one bit.

If you need laughing and searching not-to-good or not-to-bad anime for watch, I definitely recommend Steel Angel Kurumi.

I have seen plenty of animes to realize this, but the same repetitive intro for an anime series is really starting to annoy me. Really beautiful girl falls in love with a boy and he gets exactly what every guy can only dream of. I mean common people you have to admit you seen the same stupid romantic thing over again in animes such as Chobits, Sekirei, Shuffle It has those love at first site themes which in my opinion, love at first site is not really love. BUT!!!! Seeing all 24 episodes I found out that Steel Angel Kurumi is not a bad anime but it is not a great one either. The story and plot is okay, it is not all that bad but they do find a way to make it all work out. The soundtrack sounds a bit cheesey which I kind of found a problem with because some of the dramatic scenes couldn't be taken seriously on some occasions. I saw the entire 1st season in Japanese with English subtitles, after I finished it I decided to watch the the first few episode in English dubbed, the English dubbing sucks! Seriously the English voice acting is worse than Elfen Lied. The characters are all too similar to other anime girl characters, whats the word... ... sexist and slutty, but the characters design I guess tries to be creative but I guess I have give some credit. The animation is about as average as animation can get today. It is kind of hard to describe the humor, I guess the word would be cute. There was plenty of funny moments where I found myself chuckling, or bursting in laughter. There are tons of erotic themes to Steel Angel Kurumi including some lesbians themes I kind of find it hard to imagine any female audiences watching this anime all the way through, I would say that this anime is aimed towards young men. This is not a terrible anime, I enjoyed it a little but I was only watching because I was bored. Still, this anime is an okay anime show, but it is not a great one either. Steel Angel Kurumi gets 2.9/5 So close. This would only be an anime you will watch only if you have nothing else to watch.

Nakahito Kagura, an eleven year old boy, discovers one of the first Steel Angels when three boys push him into Dr. Ayanokoji's mansion. While inside, he finds a mechanical doll, The Steel Angel, lying on the ground, along with a design of another. After a sudden earthquake, the doll fell over and their lips met. A kiss from a mystic, onto an angel. After this accidental kiss, the Angel wakes up. This all begins from her first words: "Master..." She calls herself Kurumi, and calls Nakahito, Master. From those days on, many weird happenings come to these two. Because Kurumi was awakened, other Angels were as well. The first to come after them, another main character, Suki. After Skui fought Kurumi, she had lost her power gain and went unconscious. When this happens, Kurumi takes it on herself to kiss Suki. Suki wakes up and now is loyal to Kurumi. As this story progresses, we meet Dr. Amagi. One of the others who worked on developing the Steel Angels. We find out about the different Angel Hearts. The one Kurumi has, the Angel Heart Mark II, is a newly developed one. Saki, and most other Steel Angels have, are the original Angel hearts. Later in the story, more and more Steel Angels come to being and other characters come. Also, how the Angels came to be. We find out that Dr. Ayanokoji and many others, call themselves The Academy. They had come from the future to find a powerful mystic to awaken the Angels. Some believed that it was a good idea, some others didn't. Karinka, another Steel Angel was created, but with two separate Angel Hearts. She was supposedly said to be the most powerful one from what the scientists had said. But they were wrong. More story progresses, and it has shown that Karinka and Kurumi were in love with Nakahito. Saki, in love with Kurumi. The Academy told the story of their future. How demons were attacking the future and how the Angel Heart Mark II had more then just angel spirits in them, but demons as well. As more fights come out of it, and more won by the four of them, it comes out to be Kurumi and Nakahito together. The mystic with the Angel. In love forever. In my opinion though, there should have been more episodes to this series. But with the episodes so far, it has been a great series.
