Extremely Impressive First Arc, Slightly Lacking Second Arc
The first arc (the first 14 episodes) are amongst the story telling I've ever experienced. The heavy twists and themes of promise, survival, suffering, love, and friendship are what truly carry the series. The underlying themes on reality are so very interesting to think about. Topped off with an great sound track, of which has a very high replay value on almost all individual tracks, and some ...

Amazing story, should have stretched it further!
The title of this review basically says it all. Although I loved the story and will not spoil anything in my very quick breakdown, its enough to say that this should have lasted far longer! Without ruining the story, the series/season is split into 2 arcs. For me personally, the first of which is where I particularly enjoyed the show but I felt, as countless other have said, could have lasted 100+ ...

It felt very rushed, but it was still pretty good.
I'm a fan of the Manga, and I did enjoy the show, but it felt very rushed, as though, instead of trying for another season, they wanted to reach a truly "final" ending right away. It's still good, but the skipped a LOT of great content to push through the entire story as quickly as possible. I won't agree with people who say it's the best, because I believe, on average, it IS a bit overrated, but ...

    Terrific and engaging, but short.
'Sword Art Online' is a fantastic series, mixing fantasy and sci-fi beautifully with a compelling story. It has a little bit of every thing: action, romance, humor, and tragedy. The characters are full of life, I found myself relating to some and having sympathy for others... *sigh* love hurts some times...

I strongly recommend this to any fan of anime, and any fan of fantasy or sci-fi ...

    Engaging Plot & Great Action
First 13 episodes are beautifully constructed, dealing with thought-provoking situations and wonderfully done character development. It's filled breathtaking scenery, great action sequences, a sweet romance, and truly interesting villain.

If they had left it at that it would have been a classic in my book, but they had to add on the last 13 episodes that, as a female reviewer, made me angry ...

    Great Show!....but...
The artwork and plot is amazing I have to say I love this show but a lot went downhill in the second season. A lot of the characters are cliché, fan-service, typical hero, normal, boring people, creepy perverts,or just plain stupid. I still recommend it though!

    Virtual Reality at its finest
The Virtual Reality Anime genre is a very difficult genre to master. Think about .hack series where people would yell when attacked and freak out when someone died despite the very small consequences (i.e. losing the items you collected before saving and going back to the last town you saved in). This caused very unreal situations that made the anime hard to take seriously. Sword Art Online ...

Logging in to Sword Art Online
The first time I ever heard of this anime was when I was looking for a new anime to watch on the web. I read an article on what it was all about, a boy who becomes trapped in a virtual MMO with a vast amount of other players, I thought to myself; "This sounds great!" But when I looked to watch it on anime sites like GoGoAnime and such, I found no trace of the rumored great series, for it ...
