  • Looks Great, written poorly
Visually SAO looks great, the animation is solid and the characters look great. The soundtrack is basically heaven to the ears and provides a great atmosphere to the scenes.
This is based on the first season
When I watched the first three episodes of this, I thought that it was a pretty awesome anime. It was after episode three, when the story just nosedived into the ground. The anime ...

  • It could have been a masterpiece
The first 14 episodes of this show blew my mind. It was so fricking great, regardless of your experience with RPGs. It had a palpable sense of danger, a rich and vibrant world and a plot that was thrilling. The characters are great, and you truly root for them as they struggle with their new surroundings. I devoured these episodes. The show should have stayed in this space longer and explored ...

  • This is an amazing series
It's an interesting premise and a good commentary on human nature throughout the entire narrative. The only weakness is perhaps the whole every girl loves the hero bit they felt the need to include, but that aside, this series is pretty amazing. It's thoughtful with great action, romance, etc.

Sword Art Online - Review 1/1/14
Yes! Yeeees! Oh, let me taste your tears, Asuna!
Mm, your tears are so yummy and sweet!
Oh, the tears of unfathomable sadness! Yummy~

In a world where series' like Harry Potter, or other real abhorrent fanfiction tittles the likes of Twilight sells well enough for multiple sequels, it shouldn't be a surprise then, Sword Art Online's popularity skyrocketing that is. Pretty posters, ...

Somewhat entertaining, but the second show does not live up to the first
*My reviews are free of spoilers*

Sword Art Online II has great ideas that are held back by poor plot structuring. If it had been done right, it would have been a great sequel to the awesome fantasy world that was the first Sword Art Online. Instead we are left with a reasonably entertaining, but poorly executed show.

Recommended for: Sword Art Online fans, if you're in it for the ...

Skip to Sword Art Online II
I haven't watched Sword Art Online II, but I can tell you that an anime has rarely wasted my time like the original Sword Art Online. It's an incredibly frustrating series that has at best a decent premise; it's punishing to experience and a punishment to watch.

    Great Concept... Poor Execution
When you hear about this show from the perspective of someone who hasn't watched it, it sounds great! People getting imprisoned in an MMO is a very cool concept.... but someone had to ruin it. The whole foundation of games is that they have ground rules. Rules that cant be broken. For example, death. When you die, after 30 seconds, you die in the real world. Easy enough to understand. Until 2 ...

    Definitely worth your time.
    Just another stuck-in-a-game series.. right?

    Nope:
Of the immersed MMO genre, this series stands out.
Sword Art Online takes the time to plausibly explain the world and how it happens. Of course, with suspension of disbelief, but the characters react realistically.

It also does not hang its hat on one hook. There are 4 major story arcs that allow you to follow the characters through ...

    Could of Done better
This anime had the potential to become something great, beautiful story with many obstacles and a great character arch, but instead it was a climactic first few episodes, a flat line, and then a descent into a dark hole filled with plot holes, confusion, and terrible plot lines. Kirito never grows as a character, what makes a person love a character is the way they develop or change. Never once ...

    Great potential, Terrible results
SAO starting off was great. It had a unique (ish) premise, the characters introduced were great and all distinctive. The fighting was epic and had some very compelling moments. One thing I loved about this is the relationship between
They work well together and it was fun seeing them together. Unfortunately, the plot moved at lightning fast speed and the ...
