Average anime that has Overrated hype behind it.
I've always loved the idea of having a enthralling Virtual Reality world where I could lose myself in.. And even though there's a lot of hype behind it. I'm sorry to burst the bubble, but the anime is all flash, with absolutely NO substance.
(Disclaimer all I could handle of this anime was the 1st seasons 8-9 episodes.)

The beginning of this anime is much promising. The first episode sets up ...

    Beautiful Visuals; Mediocre Story
***Note: This review only applies to the first season.***

Quick, spoiler-free synopsis (bar Episode 1). Kirito is a gamer who has been playing a new VRMMO (Virtual Reality Massively Multiplayer Online) game called Sword Art Online since its beta stage. The game is released and he and many other day-one players are shocked to learn that the game's creator has trapped all of them in the game, ...

    Acceptable, but far from perfect
    PROS:
+ World Building: Reki's world building is incredible and he does a fantastic job out of making you want to come and stay in the worlds of SAO.
+ Art/Colors: This is a very good looking anime and certain scenes are very wallpaper-worthy.

    CONS:
    - Characters: Kirito is OP as shit and literally nothing can even touch him minus the fucking admin of the game, which he proceeds to smite ...

One of the best anime series
This is a pretty good show if you like playing MMOs, want to one day be able to play in MMOs like Megaman style, and if you enjoy anime. The anime really captures you, and keeps you watching even when the action is slow. Though, towards the end, in SAO II, ep 20 onwards, the show ends up being dulled a little.

    I was expecting more.
DISCLAIMER: As a preface, I'd like to say I am in no way an expert on ANYTHING, so please take this review with a grain of salt. . .

Ok, I've watched the first 6 episodes of Sword Art Online (The first season).

I had high expectations after watching the first 2 episodes. I figured for sure I was in for a very progressive storyline, with interesting character development and plot.

What is there to say about SAO [ Spoilers ]
Sword Art Online began with such an Amazing season, along with the game of the name fitting well with the anime title. The first season had everything, love, action, deaths, shock.. it was well written indeed, but then when the second season came out... it seemed... well, repetitive, it seemed that the writters had tried to do the same thing with SAO expect it didn't work well, I mean I must admit ...

Two Years Worth of Semen Made a Glopping Noise
Lets get this out of the way! The first episode of Sword Art Online was actually really good. It laid the foundations to what could have been such an amazing show about survival in a virtual world... Unfortunately, everything after episode 2 is nothing short of a disastrous train wreck as the show immediately abandons its early themes.

The writing of this show is just absolutely horrid. Kirito ...

  • I liked it....sort of
The first series is a MUST see. However, for me, after that things turned for the worst. At first it just seemed like the series was changing for the sake of prolonging it. Then after a while it seemed rushed and overall I didn't like the ending. Mostly because it wasn't happy. Anyways watch it and form your own opinion.

Sword Art Online: Too Many Haters, Worth Checking Out
Sword Art Online unfortunately falls under the category of shows that are incredibly popular and hyped upon release so it falls under extreme scrutiny and end up being under appreciated. While there are some issues with continuity in the beginning of the series with massive time skips and while the show turns into a romance mid season 1 which some people disliked expecting more of an action focus ...
